Ordered the remote for the 360 upgrade, then found out my recordings on my old box V6 will be lost when the new software is installed, got hundreds of recordings.
Could i just not bother?
The 360 video seems to suggest that it will update regardless within 5 days.
If this is the case, could Virgin stop it?
Otherwise, i`d have to list the recordings and try to rescue the situation by seeing if they are being showed again, get them on catch up/on demand, or even on Youtube.

Hello,
It seems like the 360 upgrade will update within 5 days regardless. To avoid losing your recordings:
Contact Virgin Media: Ask if they can stop or delay the update.
Backup Recordings: List your important recordings and see if they are available on catch-up, on-demand, or YouTube.
Watch or Record Elsewhere: Try to watch or record the shows elsewhere before the upgrade.
I hope this will be helpful for you
Best Regards

TV360 runs fundamentally different software to your V6, ordering this conversion is a bit like converting from Apple to Android, or vice-versa.
Your box will be reformatted and everything on it will be lost. Make a note of all your series links & recordings, because one difference with the TV360 is that you can only set new SL's for programmes that are due to be broadcast in the next fortnight.
Go through all your recordings and find which ones are available via other means - in the "watch now" screen, scroll down to "related videos" and there will be a drop-down on the right, indicating OnDemand availability.
Once you have requested the migration to TV360, then ultimately the software install and reformat will be forced in a matter of time. User @chris1058 advising you to "Contact Virgin Media: Ask if they can stop or delay the update" - this advice is (unfortunately for you) misunderstanding how a TV360 migration works.

Thanks Chris.
I`ll do that, think Virgin should make it a lot more clear that you will lose everything, and that the upgrade is basically a fundamental change of software, and not like the periodic ones that you get on windows.
I`ll have a word to see if the upgrade can be delayed or stopped as japitts suggested.
Kind regards
Jeff

Thanks japitts.
I`ve replied to @chris1058 who said pretty much the same, wasn`t aware that the upgrade was a change of software until after i ordered the remote and watched the video.
I`ll see if it can be stopped or delayed, if not, be a case of listing my recordings and finding out if they are available through Virgin or on other platforms, like Youtube etc.
Best regards.
Jeff

After you receive the updated remote, an "upgrade now" icon should appear on your V6 menu within a few days.
You have a short time to instigate the migration yourself before it's forced.
"Upgrade" is a marketing term across the tech industry, and research is always advised!!

I`ve got 2 apps, upgrade now ans install now.
Just going to leave them for now, doing a spreadsheet of my recordings, and it`s a large one.

Good job i did a spreadsheet of unwatched stuff, box went off and a forced update.
Simple if time consuming task to recover/rescue stuff.
On my PC, went to https://virgintvgo.virginmedia.com/
and signed in and links/pairs to my box.
Then copy/paste the programme name, then if it`s there, it goues on the watch list.
If it`s being shown again, just record it.
For anything that`s not there, plenty of torrent sites, Youtube etc, just cast to my tv.
When stuff has been watched, just tick it off.
Like a naughty schoolboy, i tried out the voice remote thing, and said a rude word whereupon, it switched to standby.
Still finding my feet with it, but like all sorts of updates/upgrades, like Windows, the content is the same, just accessed/presented differently.
