New features of V360 annoying, is there a solution?

Nicki-JP
Tuning in

I always listen to the radio through my TV.  So it's on for long stretches just on Radio 6 Music.  Both queries are related to this.

1) Before the screen went to mainly black with maybe just a logo (can't remember exactly) With V360 details of the show scroll across the screen, which is a good thing.  The issue is that the background is a sort of blue purple colour and emits a lot of light.  Apart from it being a waste of energy it means there is an unnecessary ambient light in my room.

2) When I just want to check a programme or do something with a setting or whatever and go to the guide or menu screen the radio goes off and whatever programme I was on plays in the thumbnail area.  Then when I want to go back to the radio I have to set it by voice or the Radio menu or App.

The radio stations used to be mixed in with the other stations, and had a number, now they havent - they are on a different guide menu even.

Is there anything that can be done about either of these issues or is it just a backward step?

Try using just the Radioline app.... It's a bit darker. I use that instead of the 'radio' section now

The removal of radio stations from the EPG, and putting them into an app, is one of the differences between TiVo-software & TV360. The V6 has some radio channels recordable in the EPG, as well as the Radioline app for greater choice. TV360 only has the app.

I've only ever dabbled with the app, I tried a quick play on my V6 but wasn't able to replicate either of the specific bits you mentioned.

Its just on the v360 I've found the - so if you are on V6 you have the better set up - IMO!

Hi Nicki-JP

I'm afraid you can't blank out the 360 screen like you could on the older tivo/V6 boxes.

It's probably possible to blank out  the screen using your actual TV settings though.

For example I have an LG TV. If I go to Settings > All Settings > Picture > Energy Saving >  Clicking on 'Screen Off' works - the screen shows a message and then goes black after 5 seconds. If I then press any button on my LG TV remote (except  for the power and volume buttons) then the screen turns back on again.

@roy247, He has an LG OLED  and needs to go to Support > OLED Care > Device Self Care > Energy Saving

The same function should be available on most TV's.

The Horizon TV platform that runs V360 is the property of Virgins parent company. They have been running Horizon for many years on European cable networks that stopped carrying broadcast radio at Digital Switchover in around 2000. Hence there is no facility to carry radio on the EPG, & a specific background app has had to be developed to access the broadcast streams on Virgin's boxes. With satellite distribution of broadcast radio now becoming expensive (Bauer radio have already removed all their stations from the radio section) it is only a matter of time before the only access will be the internet driven Radioline app or BBC Sounds.

Thank you - I am trying that!  The trouble is with all this is that you don't know what you don't know!! Cheers.

That is definitely much better - particularly if you favourite the station and then go in via favourites.

Thank you very much!  N : )
