Home VOIP features

Hi

We are due to switch over to the Virgin VOIP service soon. Once up and running will it be possible to use a VOIP wi-fi enabled phone directly instead of connecting an analogue phone via the Hub?

  • For reference we have three VOIP numbers with Sipgate using Cisco IP Phones & an ATA.


    VM's VOIP marketing should be shot down in flames by trading standards.

    Virgin Media are not offering a VOIP service - you can not use a SIP/VOIP IP phone or a Cisco or Grandstream ATA with the VM via HUB telephone service.

    What is offered is an analogue telephone service from the TEL 1 RJ11 socket of the VM Hub,
    an RJ11 plug to BT socket adaptor is supplied so a current analogue telephone / cordless phone system can be connected.

    If you do wish to use a SIP/VOIP phone that works fine over VM internet, but you will need a SIP a/c from a provider like A&A or Sipgate or Vonage

    No. The VM service is NOT a VoIP system, it’s just replacing how your old handset is connected to VM.

    Welcome back to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post. You would need to use a handset thats plugged into the router as Tudor advised earlier.
