Home VOIP features

Hi

We are due to switch over to the Virgin VOIP service soon. Once up and running will it be possible to use a VOIP wi-fi enabled phone directly instead of connecting an analogue phone via the Hub?

Thanks.

  • For reference we have three VOIP numbers with Sipgate using Cisco IP Phones & an ATA.

VM's VOIP marketing should be shot down in flames by trading standards.

Virgin Media are not offering a VOIP service - you can not use a SIP/VOIP IP phone or a Cisco or Grandstream ATA with the VM via HUB telephone service.

What is offered is an analogue telephone service from the TEL 1 RJ11 socket of the VM Hub,
an RJ11 plug to BT socket adaptor is supplied so a current analogue telephone / cordless phone system can be connected.

If you do wish to use a SIP/VOIP phone that works fine over VM internet, but you will need a SIP a/c from a provider like A&A or Sipgate or Vonage

No. The VM service is NOT a VoIP system, it’s just replacing how your old handset is connected to VM.

  • Hello AdrianM2012,

Welcome back to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post. You would need to use a handset thats plugged into the router as Tudor advised earlier.

    Kind Regards,
