Large button controller

Ian_72
Tuning in

hi, I am a brand-new virgin customer. I am visually impaired and severely disabled and require a large button controller. I have spoken virgin to ask if there is such a thing and they have said no! Which I am not very happy about

Can somebody on this forum suggest a universal controller that would be suitable. I have a 360 box.

I am really struggling with the one supplied

Hi Ian_72,

You could look at the oneforall remotes the URC7125 and URC1240 seem popular choices but not sure if they have larger buttons.

The URC-6820 does have large buttons and according to a review on Argos  does work with the 360.

I've enclosed a photo of the OneForAll URC1240 in between a 360 remote and an LG Smart remote to give you an idea of the size.

The OneForAll URC1240 measures H22, W4.4, D2cm compared to the OneForAll URC6820 which @roy247 suggested which measures H17.4, W2, D4.8cm.

Although the URC6820 is smaller than the URC1240 it does appear to have larger buttons.  The LG Smart Control in the picture can also control the TV360.

The URC1240 and URC7125 are both available from Amazon, and slightly cheaper than from Argos. You should also be able to return to Amazon if purchased from there and not suitable.

To set up the OneForAll URC7125 - use the SimpleSet setup process and choose Ziggo manufacturer.

To set up the OneForAll1240 enter the code 1582, It needs direct line of sight to set it up.

Thank you for the excellent advice and the photograph but I have one further question I have purchased a URC1210 And my wife has linked it up to the TV. However, is there a way to link it up to my virgin 360 box

Hi again Ian,

Sorry but you've purchased the wrong remote. You've got the URC1210 which only controls TV's.  If you bought it from Amazon you should be able to return it.

You should have bought the URC1240 (that's the one I've got) or either the URC7125 (which definitely works with the TV360) or the URC6820 which Roy suggested (I'm not certain if that one will work with the TV360).

One of the reviews from Argos, good idea to read a few incase your TV is mentioned.

Hi again Ian

It's great that you've managed to connect the URC1240 to the TV.

You need to have direct line of sight to the 360 box in order to pair the URC1240 with it.

Press the Sat button on the remote and then press and keep the Setup button pressed for 3 seconds.

The red power button will flash a few times. Now type in 1582 and it should be paired with the 360 box. Test this by changing channels with it. You should now also be able to change channels by typing in a channel number.

Pressing Guide should bring up the EPG, pressing Record should give you recording options.

Pressing Exit when using any of the shortcut buttons on the remote should take you back to the TV program you are watching.

Pressing Menu should bring up the menu navigational buttons at the top of the screen.

Pressing the info button also brings up a menu of shortcuts which allow you to see the program synapsis, turn subtitles on or off etc

Going forward  if you leave the remote as it is then it will continue to control your 360 box.

You will see a series of 4 buttons towards the top of the remote:-  TV, SAT, AMP, and DVD

So  if you decide that want to control your normal TV then press the TV button amongst that group of buttons.

Then if you want to use the remote to control the 360 box again then press the SAT button.
