Slow download speeds

Evening all,

We have had Gig1 since April with no issues, but recently we are getting slow download speeds.

I have had the hub5 set it modem mode since it's been installed with no issues. I have attached some screenshots of the speed and logs etc, any advice is appreciated.

The image showing 863 was done on my laptop with a wired connection, the other speed tests were done over wifi

Router stats are difficult to read from screenshots, better to copy/paste as text.

Wifi speeds are always variable, was device correcting on 2.4 or 5GHz?

Strange as you have SamKnows running?  This does not work in modem mode.  Aside from that, SamKnows is showing full speed to your Hub so the issues are on the LAN side.

As Adduxi says - your problem is on the LAN side and specifically to do with WiFi.  Not Allessandro’s question was valid — is the testing device on 2.4GHz or 5GHz?  And are you definitely in modem mode and if so, which router?

It's worth pointing out VM only guarantee 30Mb speeds over Wifi.

I had switched the hub over to operate as a router while I hardwired into it to run the testing to make sure it was getting the correct speeds.

Wifi devices were connected on 5ghz (Samsung S23 ultra) sat about 2 metres away from the hub.

The router I'm using is the Asus RT-AX82U, I should get getting better speeds than 100mpbs over wifi surely?

So many factors affect WiFi speeds. Every case is different.

Measured in the same room or through walls?

40 or 80 MHz bandwidth?

How many other devices connected?

To my eyes, your reply is ambiguous.  Are you saying that you were only getting 100 Mbps from the Hub 5 in router mode, 5GHz WiFi to a Samsung S23?

Or had you put the Hub 5 into modem mode and the ASUS router 5GHz WiFi was measured at 100Mbps on the Samsung S23?

What cable are you using from the Hub to the Asus?  Should be Cat 5e or Cat 6.  What speed is the link between the Hub and Router being reported as?  Are you using any form of QoS on the Asus?
