Download speed poor

Hi,

I just received my new hub5 and connected, however I'm not getting the gigabit speed expected

On my laptop I'm getting 60 to 80mb download and on my phone 339

Upload on laptop 76 and on my phone 97

Please can someone check my line and let me know if all ok please?

Thanks

Okay. Something is happening between the hub and the laptop. Try varying the hub port and also the ethernet cable. Lastly try the laptop in safe mode with networking enabled.

As above , the Hub is getting full speed. The max you will ever get on a 1 Gb NIC is around 940.

I can't be sure but I swear I was getting a regular over 100 on the laptp when I had the M125 speed

80 at the laptop seems low, maybe the wireless card doesn't like the router now?

      What is NIC?

I'll get a decent cat 6 ethernet cable for the laptop.

Thanks to both of you, much appreciated

just did another test on the laptop

reached 1131 at router and 214 at laptop, quite a variation between 80 and 214??

would a cat6 lead from a powerline to xbox be better than a cat 5?

Nope, the restriction is the PLA.  They are not the best, but usable if you can't use anything else.  A direct Cat 6 cable would be the best option.  A Cat 5 cable is rated at 100Mb, Cat 5e and Cat 6 are Gigabit cables, 1000Mb.  Your PLA is only delivering 25Mb, so the cable is irrelevant at that speed.

Thanks,  my powerline adapters are quite old now, perhaps time for an upgrade

      Assuming PLA is powerline adapters?

Checked laptop with new cat6 cable and getting around 500 so no different from cat5 cable.

Thanks to everyone, some work to do for me to improve things my side.
