We are aware that some customers are experiencing issues with their email service and are very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing. Our teams are working flat out to fully restore all emails as soon as possible.
Update 13/07/23 - This has now been resolved. If you are still having issues, please make your own separate post giving as much detail as possible.
Emails are starting to drop into my MS Outlook client Inbox but with gaps. Just had a look at the webmail end and am finding that 56,259 Emails going back to the 1990s have been marked as unread. Does this mean they are all going to get downloaded again?
Advice from VM would be much appreciated.
Looking at the comments re the loss of Email folders on the VM server logins (and IMAP?) I'm rather glad I still use POP to Outlook 365 folders, all on my PC!! And we did discuss what happens to emails which were sent while the VM Servers were down... Hopefully that will just have caused an initial failure message back to the Sending server which will have tried again after a specified interval. Increasing said interval for subsequent failures then finally deciding sending is not possible and notifying the originator by email back to their system.
I agree. We need to know.
I have 14 days to cancel an 18m contract with VM and I am considering doing just that because of the hassle I have had this week. VM may think e-mail is not important to its business but if I could easily switch my e-mail address to another provider, I would and it would give me greater flexibility over my broadband provider.
Maybe OFCOM or OFTEL or whoever regulates e-mails should look into this mess.
