Since sometime earlier today a couple of us have not been receiving email on out Virgin accounts. We use IMAP and are not receiving any errors, just no emails.
Is there something wrong with Virgin's email delivery today?

Same here and I got sites asking for 2fa for email, THIS IS WHY I HATE 2FA.
on 09-05-2024 15:44
It's still not working properly. Can we get a response from Virgin??
As for 2FA via email, this is one of the reasons why it's a terrible idea! Until this issue is fixed, there are certain sites I can't sign into.

Some have been slowly trickling through this afternoon. I've analysed some of the headers to see if there was a pattern to the delay but there doesn't seem to be much consistency across the cluster. The third column is the time take for their edge server to accept the incoming email.

Hi CurlyKylie,
"Are things improving with this issue?
I currently cant check my ntlworld account,as my phones on charge.
Isaw in another thread that the moderators have now flagged it up as an issue, and things will be fixed.
Its a real pain,as imortant emails arent getting through, along with the obigatory 20'ish daily spam emails.

Hi Zammie21, yes they are improving. Quite a few emails are dribbling through now, they are coming in randomly from over the past couple of days. Some have no delay, and there are some which still haven't arrived so it's not fixed but looks to be in recover.
on 09-05-2024 21:27
So do you think things are slowly getting back to normal?
Additionally are you now receiving the important emails that you were missing, from the past couple of days?

This issue is STILL going on? Any chance of a VM employee responding today?
I really need to access emails that have been sent to me, but have disappeared into the ether. You're happy to put the price up each year, while also coming last repeatedly when it comes to ISPs and customer service.

One important email was delayed by 2.5 days, I had 30 minutes to respond to it.
fwd0.hosts.co.uk had it at 2024-05-07 13:10:43 UTC
mx7-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services accepted it at 2024-05-10 01:41:37 UTC which is 2d 12h 30m 54s later.
My feeling is either the ???-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services cluster is extremely stressed, or they are running some kind of rate limiting or tarpitting. It seems to be random, no consistency as to sender or route which to me implied they are stressed in some way.
Most emails seem to have come through now, but there are still some delays on current ones.

Hello? VM staff? Why are you replying to threads posted after this one, but not this one??
If it wasn't a pain to switch providers I would dump VM in a heartbeat. Their customer service is absolute TRASH and well deserving of the 1.6/5 score they have on TrustPilot.
The customer service used to be great. You'd get through to UK-based call centres, with minimal queue times. The phone line quality was fine. The people you'd speak to were trained properly. There were also newsgroups you could post in to speak directly to the tier 2 and above supports. Now it is an utter JOKE.

One I know would have been sent from Amazon still hasn't arrived 17 hours later and another took 3 hours to get to mx6-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services earlier this morning.
8am Sunday morning and the delays are still very much there, if anything I'm tempted to say building up again. This is getting silly possibly time to look to move, I don't think you can use email problems though to cancel your Virgin contract.
