Repair incoming cable

I just noticed damage to the coaxial cable running around the outside of my house. It looks like it has been attacked by rodents. How can I get it repaired, and shouldn't it have been run in that green trunking where it's lying on the ground?

  • Hi garage_jim

Thanks for getting back to me with your details via PM.

I've gone ahead and booked in an engineer appointment for you.

There’ll be no charge for this visit unless:

*The technician finds that the issue isn’t due to our network or equipment, for example if it relates to equipment or other systems not provided by us, or it’s been damaged.

*You miss the appointment for any reason, or someone over 18 isn’t in at the time of the appointment.

Otherwise, the appointment would be free of charge.

The technician will confirm if a charge is applicable and a £25 Appointment Charge or a £25 Missed Appointment Charge may be applied to your account.

If you need to change or cancel your appointment you can reply to the SMS you’ll receive, or you can manage this through the My Virgin Media App up to 4pm the day before the appointment.
Let us know how the visit goes and if you need anything else 😊

A VM Mod should pick this up in a day or two and discuss with you.  As for the trunking, yes it should be, but it's not always.  My cable is just buried under the grass sods with no trunking, for example.  However, that cable could have been stapled to the wall up from the ground?

  • Hi garage_jim

Thanks for your post, I can help arrange an engineer visit so the cable can be repaired.

I've dropped you a private message so I can take your details and get this arranged.

It's the phone not the coaxial cable which has been damaged. This cable is increasingly no longer required due to VoIP migration.

Looks like a nibbled bit of coax cable IMO running alongside a cable designed for EV charging.

As this is a Community Forum, and not a direct line to VM as such, it will take a day or two for a VM Mod to pick this up.  If you need is urgent, it would be best to phone Customer Services directly.

      Hi Ashley,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear the workmen have cut through a cable. Can you please let us know if you're an active account holder? If so, we can arrange a visit to repair the cable although there will be a £25 call out charge.

      Many thanks,
