Incoming emails not arriving since this morning.

Since sometime earlier today a couple of us have not been receiving email on out Virgin accounts.  We use IMAP and are not receiving any errors, just no emails.

Is there something wrong with Virgin's email delivery today?

This issue is STILL going on? Any chance of a VM employee responding today?

I really need to access emails that have been sent to me, but have disappeared into the ether. You're happy to put the price up each year, while also coming last repeatedly when it comes to ISPs and customer service.

  • One important email was delayed by 2.5 days, I had 30 minutes to respond to it.

    fwd0.hosts.co.uk  had it at 2024-05-07 13:10:43 UTC

    mx7-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services accepted it at 2024-05-10 01:41:37 UTC which is 2d 12h 30m 54s later.

My feeling is either the ???-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services cluster is extremely stressed, or they are running some kind of rate limiting or tarpitting.  It seems to be random, no consistency as to sender or route which to me implied they are stressed in some way.

Most emails seem to have come through now, but there are still some delays on current ones.

        Thanks very much,Ashleigh_C

There are so many of us with the same problem, there is plainly an issue.

And for myself, this has become very stressful, given I've just lost my mum.

Hello? VM staff? Why are you replying to threads posted after this one, but not this one??

If it wasn't a pain to switch providers I would dump VM in a heartbeat. Their customer service is absolute TRASH and well deserving of the 1.6/5 score they have on TrustPilot.

The customer service used to be great. You'd get through to UK-based call centres, with minimal queue times. The phone line quality was fine. The people you'd speak to were trained properly. There were also newsgroups you could post in to speak directly to the tier 2 and above supports. Now it is an utter JOKE.

  • One I know would have been sent from Amazon still hasn't arrived 17 hours later and another took 3 hours to get to mx6-prd-nl1-vmo.edge.unified.services earlier this morning.

8am Sunday morning and the delays are still very much there, if anything I'm tempted to say building up again.  This is getting silly possibly time to look to move, I don't think you can use email problems though to cancel your Virgin contract.

  • My ntlworld account has just started with what looks like the same issue.  I get some emails, albeit somewhat delayed, but at least one order confirmation from amazon and several verification emails from another site have definitely gone astray.

I called it in and a technician will apparently be looking into it, over the next 3-5 days.  I will certainly be doing what I suspect VM want us to do, that is moving my email account to another service provider.   Is there a way of archiving one's past emails to a local storage medium, for potential future reference?

        Thanks @Graham_A .

I've just been reading about exporting emails via Outlook, the client that I use, to a .PST file.  As I wouldn't need regular access to my archived mails, I'd probably leave them in the PST file and not bother to import them.  However, I need to read up a little more to see how I would go about opening the PST file, if I ever do need to find an old email, and whether that would necessitate me importing the whole lot or not.

I think I'd better do a bit of spring cleaning on my inbox, to rid myself of any that I will never need.

Now I'm unable to send/receive email via an email client. I get error 0x800CCC0E and a message that says "The connection to the server has failed".

      Hello Sigma,

Thanks for your post regarding the error on outlook.

We did have an fault yesterday for some of our customers, This was resolved early evening.

Can we just ask if the same issue persists today? or are you now able to receive emails okay?
