Account amendments done via the phone are usually immediate and active before you hang up the call. If you did this online or via your STB menus, it can take "a couple of days"

Best way to add is to phone. Online requests raise a ticket for a CS agent to action, which then gets put in a queue. Considering it is a weekend, & what’s more the last weekend before Christmas there is probably a substantial backlog building up for Monday. Try giving them a call at 8am Monday if you want to ensure you get it before Christmas.
