Email not working (error inside server message)

NTLworld email not working - "An error occurred inside the server which prevented it from fulfilling the request."

Nothing about it in Service Status.

I notice that over the past couple of weeks other people have the same problem  - No solution and it just seems to resolve itself in a day or so. 

However that is not satisfactory when I need to send an email now.

    I am sorry to hear that there was an issue with the sending of emails, and am glad to hear that this is now resolved.

  • After several hours of getting the same error, I can now send emails - no idea of the cause of the problem or what resolved it.

        Exactly the same is happening when I try sending emails this morning. 

        Earlier I also go the 'account locked out, please change password etc. scenario' which I now ignore.

        What is it with VM these days - unreliable for a communications company and no explanation as to what keeps going wrong.

        I'd be interested to know if  these errors more common with NTLWORLD email accounts?

        I guess I'll have to wait until I can log in again eventually.

  • I also seem to now have this issue as well. Tried to send email yesterday and got the "error occurred inside the server and could not fulfil the request" pop up Also an ntlworld email address. Is Virgin looking into this issue as it seems to be effecting more and more people. Still can't send emails today.

      Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community forums. We're here to help.

      I'm so sorry to hear you're having some trouble sending emails from an email account you have with us. Is this ongoing today? Are you sending the emails from a third party mail app/client (Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) or are you doing it from the webmail platform on our website?

        doing from the webmail from the email page on the VM site, it came back on again but has gone down once again this evening...

      An hour later and it's working again - but for how long?

      Using vm webmail and this has been an issue on and off over the past week or so...

  • And it;s happened to me again - just when  I need to send an important email! I guess that I won't be able to do that tonight.

  • I kept checking yesterday evening and this morning but it still had the same error when trying to send an email (NTLWORLD.com. However, I am relieved to report that it is now working again.

        Thanks Ashleigh. Looking through the other responses on this thread and similar threads, it does seem to be an intermittent problem with NTLworld email accounts. Does VM actually acknowledge that there is a problem?

        The lack of response from VM is disappointing, especially as we can't claim compensation because (coincidentally?) the email service isn't working properly for long enough. 

  • mine is down and I had emails to send as part of a legal case I am dealing with!!! not good not good at all poor service and useless customer service
