Email login failure, server authentication failed.

Since 13:56 on Saturday 2nd.August I have been unable to login to my @virginmedia.com email account on any of my devices using apps (Android) and Outlook365 (Windows).

The login fails and and I get "server authentication failed" then prompts me to enter my password. This does not work but  I know my password is current and valid.

I setup another device with a different email client (Thunderbird) but I still get the failure.

I had this issue a couple of months ago which were fixed by VM, so it looks like the same again.

Does anyone else have this issue?

    Yes exactly the same issue since 14 July. Although I can get my webmail but on my iphone I get the message

    "Error.  The provided login data to access e-mail server imap.ntlworld.com seems to be wrong. Please correct them."

    I'm using all the correct imap settings and the same password I've had for donkeys years. Getting hold of support is impossible.  I do hope there's help somewhere.

      Unfortunately, I've not been able to get webmail for some time. I get the message when trying to get webmail from My VM.

      Update. I rang support who didn't have a clue and went all vague on me when I said  "email clients" and "IMAP Server Authentication" they did however refer me to IT(?) and I should expect a call in 3-5 days...I laughed. If there are any VM Tech folks in here please find out what's going on and report back!

  • At 13:29 my email login started working, I had done nothing. Looks like whatever the cause, VM must have fixed it. So, Outlook 365, Android App all working again.
