Can't access ntlworld email from the Gmail app

I finally managed to log in to my VM account. On my phone I went through verifying via my Gmail but just ended up with a blank page. This morning I tried on my desktop and amazingly it all worked. Verified using my Gmail and then created a passkey to log into my VM account.

However I still can't retrieve my ntlworld emails using the Gmail app. It says user or password incorrect. Is it because I have now set up a passkey instead of a password to access my ntlworld emails via the VM account or should the password still exist and be valid?

All help or ideas appreciated 👍

    Sign into your VM account. Go to Account settings, VM mail settings, ID settings, Manage your product, manage email app password, Get new password.

    This generates a 4 word password that you use to set up your ntlworld email on the Gmail app.
