NTLWORLD Access

I can no longer access my NTLWorld emaill account. The Virgin Media sign in page just keeps refreshing itself every time I click on 'Sign IN' and when I did manage to get on the password was rejected so I tried to do a password reset but the email that is sent to my security gmail account never arrived.

Contacted help desk but they are hopeless because they say I dont have an 'account' - which is true, I don't have an 'account' with Virgin Media - all I have is an email address which up until yesterday I have been using for over 20 years!!

Can anyone please help me with this? All I want to do is reset my NTLWORLD password.

  • I’m really sorry, but the answer is no, nothing can be done, your email address and any messages within in are gone and won’t be coming back.

When you originally signed up with VM (or possibly NTL in your case), it was in the terms and conditions that use of the email address was conditional on you remaining a customer. It was in, possibly, the small print but it is still valid.

As you are not a customer, then yes, they simply have no reason to engage with you on the phone, and why would they since you aren’t paying them?

Look, I am really sorry but your email is gone, completely gone and it’s not coming back. Think of it like this, why would VM maintain an email mailbox and the cost of the storage etc. for someone who is paying them nothing? Would you do it, would you provide a service for someone paying you nothing at all?

  • If you don't have a current VM broadband account then it's unlikely that you will now get access. Generally email accounts close within 90 days of the broadband account closing although many have been missed for whatever reason. This is why it is always best to have a portable email address from Outlook etc that is independent of ISPs.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I've not been a VM customer for 6 months now, since I moved house. I have never received any contact about my NTLWORLD account being closed as a result of this departure. This means I have had no chance to prepare an alternative and save all my past correspondence. Is their really nothing that can be done about this. Speaking with them on the phone is an uphill battle.

      Thank You

True, but they don’t have to notify. It’s clearly in the  T’s and C’s that use of VM’s email facility is conditional on being a paid-for customer. Leave, don’t pay them anymore, fine, expect the email provision to vaporise. At least they give a 90 day grace period to move away!

Thanks. Yes I understand them not wanting to do anything for nothing but I'm certain it's all still there it's just my access that is unavailable, they have no way of identifying it's me when I call for a password reset! Sent emails to my address don't get bounced so it must still exist. Now I have to spend all weekend re configuring my life with a new email address.
