WiFi is connect but says no internet - restarting does not solve.

Hi, looking advice please. Noticed over the last few days that my devices weren't backing up data, which they do when connected to our household WiFi, so looked closer and seen our WiFi states connected but no Internet. A few random devices around the house all had connection issues, which we hadn't initially noticed.

I've since restarted the router, turned power off completely, and reconnected devices but after a short period it goes back to not working. This only appears to be a wireless issue as using ethernet into the TV allows us to stream that way, but via a tablet as an example then no luck.

Any advice please?

Does "Router" mean your 3rd party Router ? If YES it is your Wi-Fi problem to solve.

Or does it mean you have a problem with the VM Hub, that might well perform much better with Smart Wi-Fi Disabled and use of Fixed WI-Fi Channels 1 or 6 or 11 and 36 or 44.

  • Hi, it was the VM hub however I have managed to fix it (I think!). I disconnected all devices, and powered off from the mains again. It seems to be working again. Have reconnected extenders too and our home network is still established.

A very common cause of Wi-Fi Connected but no internet access is a person in the house using the VM Connect app to Pause Wi-Fi devices, especially "unknown" W-Fi devices that turn out to be important kit like office laptops or a central heating controller.

Hey, thanks for the info although I can confirm it wasn't because of that. Simply as I'm the only household member with access to the VM connect app and I rarely use it. But will keep it in mind just in case something occurs in the future.

Thanks for the support, and happy new year.

The VM Connect app enables Smart Wi-Fi / Wireless Channel Optimization on the VM Hub, this can provide significant Wi-Fi compatibility issues for some devices.

Uninstall the VM Connect app from ALL devices in your home.
In the VM Hub disable Smart Wi-Fi and try with fixed Wi-Fi channels 1 or 6 or 11 and 36 or 44.
    It be more compatible.
