Hub 5 printer problems

I have just installed a Hub 5 router to replace Hub 3 that packed in. Everything working ok other than my Epson xp-2100 printer which will no longer work on wifi or USB. It would appear that a new printer is required, can anyone suggest one that will definitely operate Hub 5 wifi 6. Preferably under £250.

Also, why can't I sign in to view hub settings using the correct password with is not recognized.

Thanks in advance, John

You don't give us any idea why the printer is not working, or what you have failed to do.

Expect the printer to have a different IP address if connected to the Hub 5 via Wi-Fi.
That change of address may require a reinstall of the printer driver on your computer.

If using USB, the printer would be USB cable connected to your laptop / PC, the Epson website has instructions and installers for various operating systems.

Hi Mark, The new hub does not have WPS so I have disconnected it several times and followed Epson's instructions. I printed out the printer test page and the SSID is VM6658200 whereas the new SSID is VM6991132. I tried to view the Hub settings through 192.168.0.1 but my password is not being recognized despite it being correct. The xp-2100 does not lend itself to changing the SSID as it does not have a screen or keypad. So I think me only alternatives is to buy a new printer that is definitely compatible or revert to Hub 3 which I don't believe is the way forward.

We have seen past topics to do with printers where a factory reset of the printer is required followed by a setup from scratch with the new hub. Some printers offer a reset feature of network settings only.

If you have a Hub 5, you may find the printer will connect if you temporarily turn off the 5GHz signal of the hub (for which you will need to log into the hub).

The print quality of the password stickers on the Hub 5 is very poor and it is very easy to mix up characters e.g. Z and 2 etc. Try taking a photo of the sticker and zoom in to the image to see if you are mistyping any characters.

The above are just generic suggestions based on past topics. If you provide more detailed info on what you have tried so far along with error messages etc. you may get some more specific help.

can't turn off the 5GZ because I can't get access to the hub. My password is not being accepted, trust me it is correct from bottom of the router. I have tried changing the z for a 2 also.

You likely don't need a new printer just a new router put hub in modem mode

     NETGEAR Nighthawk WiFi 7 Router (RS200) – Dual-band 2.5gb Router - Wireless Speed up to 6.5Gbps - Ideal for Gaming - Coverage up to 2,500 sq. ft., 80 devices : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

    Digitus LAN Cable Cat 6-3m - RJ45 Network Cable - S/FTP Shielded - Compatible with Cat6A & Cat7 - Grey : Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

any old printer can connect to a wifi 6 router just not the hub

and its not like VM copy your SSID and Wfi password to your new hub it don't work like new hub setup everything again if you had your own AP and custom SSID and password then their be no problem or your own router for that matter.

The Hub 5 has a WPS button on the rear it can be seen above the network sockets,
and WPS set up is present in the Hub 5 admin menus.

Note to RESET the Hub the process is :
    1. Press and hold RESET for 60 seconds
    2. Leave the Hub powered on to revert to the factory settings & original passwords.

  • I feel like a complete idiot, because WPS no longer on the front I assumed it was no longer required. Problem solved, money saved. Guess I just got caught in a loop and assumed the printer was old (like me) and more or less redundant. Many thanks for the advice much appreciated. Regards, John
