Can anyone tell me why I suddenly noticed my 360 box had changed to a solid red light on the front p!ease I thought there was an issue so rebooted by turning off at the wall to no avail but then I switched the on button on my remote and it came back on so I think it went into standby
this is a new box installed yesterday and when I had my first box installed two weeks ago I am sure the engineer set it to do getting so this did not happen am I correct and if so how do I do it as I am not very tech wise and still very unsure with this package
Is this while watching tv - when it should be white?
A red light shows the box is in standby so you are not watching it on the tv - but the box is doing something in background. It could be recording or being accessed from a remote device.
I would not expect a red light 24/7 - but they boxes are often doing things behind the scenes.
Hi no I as not watching tv this was at 5.30am this morning when I came down stairs but I machine into settings and changed it to 24_hours I still mud my TiVo box that I have had for years and was so used I it did is going to ta me time I also p!ease I have the forum to help as I live alone
I have two 360 boxes. On one of them the light is white and on the other it's red. Both boxes are working normally, even though the red light is supposed to mean thnat the box is in standby. I think the difference in colours may be due to the LED lights aging.
Most of the information below about the lights is taken from the VM help page /tv-box-lights
There are three LED lights on the front of the 360 box – two located on the panel next to the Virgin Media logo, and one on the standby button. The LED on the standby button is the main light. It’ll change colour depending on its state. The other two LEDs represent connection to the Virgin Media network and connection to the internet. These lights will stay off if everything is working normally.
If any of the LED lights are continuously flashing it means there could be a fault. If they are flashing continuously then you can go to the following page to check for problems in your area. /help/check/status You can also a run a test on your equipment from there. If nothing is showing you could also try the automated Service Status number 0800 561 0061. This often gives details of more local issues down to postcode level.
If you see a white light it means everything is okay. This is what you’ll see when the TV box is on and working.
If you see a red light then the TV box is on standby. Just press the power button on the Virgin TV remote to wake the TV box up and turn it on. After that you’ll see a white light. Sometimes though you will need to press that button on the actual box to wake it up.
If you see an orange light then it means the TV box is starting up. Wait at least 5 minutes for it to finish, and afterwards you’ll see the light turn white. In the meantime, check that all the cables coming into and out of the TV box are pushed in firmly. If the orange light shows for more than 5 minutes, it could mean there’s a fault.
If there are no lights on then this means the TV box is switched off, and has low or no power. Make sure that the TV box’s power supply is firmly connected to the wall and back of the TV box, the socket at the wall is switched on, and that the TV box’s power button is switched to the ‘on’ position (the side of the switch marked “I”).
Once the power is on it can take 5-10 minutes for the TV box to start up – you may see an orange light during this time. When it’s finished you’ll see the light turn white. If you see the light turn red, that means the TV box has power but is in standby mode – simply press the standby button on the TV box or Virgin TV remote to turn it on.
I agree that the red light shows standby and white light shows box being switched on. I always switch my box of at night and red light shows constantly until I switch it back on again next morning. Nothing to worry about.
Thank you for The reply and I managed to go into settings and change it to 24 hours whilst I get used to it I miss my TiVo box which I had for years and knew what I was doing to resolve issues may become day I will get used to it
