Not recording but everything else works fine?

Hi, first post here.

I’ve already contacted Virgin Media and have a new box on the way but I wondered whether anyone else had experienced this?

My 360 box suddenly decided to not let me record anything. If I go onto the guide I can press record and it says “recording” but when I go into my recordings it’s not there? My upcoming recording section still shows my series links that were already there but won’t show anything I add new.

I can still watch my recordings that are already there but it won’t let me delete one specific programme I watched, it stays on the box. I cannot record or delete things through the app either. I can still pause, rewind and fast forward live TV and red button still works and all of my apps. It just won’t register any recordings.

I have turned everything off at the wall and waited before rebooting numerous times, virgin did the checks on their end too. I also did a factory reset but chose to keep my recordings and that didn’t help either.

If I check the service in my area it says there’s an intermittent broadband issue, do you think this could be the issue with my recordings? I seem to have absolutely no broadband issues otherwise, I’ve been using the internet all day. I find it very strange as well as inconvenient. If it’s an hardware issue would everything else on the box be working fine?

I’d appreciate any thought and opinions.

Thanks.

So are you able to record programs but not watch them?

It’s a nightmare isn’t it? I had a TiVo box for over a decade and never had an issue, but “upgraded” to 360 last year because I couldn’t watch football on the red button with it. There always seems to be issues with it. I get the “Channel Failed” box come up at least once a week or if I press the red button I just get a black screen and have to reboot the box again once a week. Never used to have anything like it.

My 360 box has started recording again 12 hours after the problem started! The “intermittent broadband issue” in my area must have been the problem despite the agent I spoke to telling me it couldn’t possibly be that.
The problem I now have is that I have a new box arriving tomorrow that I obviously don’t need. Am I able to return it unused because I obviously don’t want to swap boxes and lose my recordings for nothing?

Maybe I spoke too soon, my series link ones are now recording but anything I record manually doesn’t show as recording. 🤷🏼‍♀️

        Hi Yorkshire89,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

We're sorry to hear you've been having issues with your 360 box. If a new box has been sent, you will need to set this up as once delivered, it will automatically activate on the account a few days later. We'd only send a new box if checks this end show something isn't right.

Pop back and let us know if you continue to have issues with the new box.

        Many thanks,

Similar for me - It started on Tuesday and I either get the "Oops can't do this now....try later", or it says recording deleted but the recording still shows in the list of recorded shows (though the storage percentage does still seem to go down!).
Also problems recording new shows - It lets me set recordings but doesn't then show them in the Planned recordings list or in the Recorded once the recording time is over - Odd though that if I go in the channels Guide, it does show them there, either with the hollow circle for planned, or solid red circle once recorded. and I can watch them from finding them in the guide, though it's a faff!
Hoping that it's a software update glitch for now as there are similar forum posts, before I call Virgin Media (wary of losing all existing recordings if it means a new box needed).

You’ve literally got my exact problem I posted about yesterday! I can set a recording but it doesn’t show in my recordings list, the only programmes that record new and show in my recordings folder are the ones that were already series linked before the issue started. I also can’t delete any watched recordings.
I’ve got a new box coming but I’m wary of installing it in case I loose all my recordings for nothing and have the same problem with a new box.

I do not know how this is ever going to be fixed because Virgin Media don’t seem to think there is an issue when there clearly is! There are numerous posts about similar issues. If they don’t think there’s a problem then they aren’t going to fix it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve done all troubleshooting and nothing has resolved the issue.
