change to 360 regretted

360 is touted as an upgrade, which to means to me better than what you are leaving behind. The single most annoying thing I've left behind is the simple single user interface to add tv shows and films to MY SHOWS, manage recordings and series links. Yes it was said you would lose recordings etc but I do not believe it was said it would be so difficult to even attempt to recreate anything remotely similar to  MY Shows after the 360 downgrade. try asking the help bot about that and see how far you get.
Another example of irritation with the 360 downgrade My wife gave the voice command Call the midwife and it pops up You Tube when BBC iplayer would have been more logical.
Anyone know if Sky has a better user interface?

    Hi gnh057

The 360 doesn't have My Shows, however it does have a Watchlist option instead.  If you click on the context button on the remote (three dots above the channel up.down button) you will see various options including Add to watchlist. You can also use voice control to add to your watch list

Voice control can be flakey, sometimes due to accents or speaking too quickly (I'm at fault with both lol), a poor internet connection or a need for new batteries.

I managed to use voice control to bring up Call the Midwife by saying Call Midwife (it was interpreting me saying Call the Midwife as Carl the Midwife and only bringing up a list of youtube programs)  You should also be able to open any app such as iPlayer or netflix by saying it's name.

There are some helpful tips on the /tips-and-tricks/voice-control-on-virgin-tv-360 page.

Also check the /tips-and-tricks/hacks-to-make-the-most-of-virgin-tv-360 page for other hints and tips

Should you need help on anything and can't find it just holler as there are lots of forum users (and staff) that will help.

I find the V360 utterly dreadful compared to the V6. It loses so many useful features compared to the V6 that I'd be prepared to bet that most people who are used to the latter & watch a lot of TV would be disappointed in the V360, especially if they already have a streaming device connected to their TV.

You lose so much that I disagree it should be up to the customer to check - there isn't really any way of finding our what you lose without trawling through forums, or unless like me you are one of the few who have the opportunity to extensively try the V360 first.

I was very fortunate that my elderly mother has a V360 downgrade (I insist on calling it that) and that I've been able to extensively compare the two. I'm still finding useful features the V360 has dropped even after some time. I can't see any mention of them on any Virgin Media site so its unfair to put the onus on the customer to do their research.

TV360 is fundamentally a different TV product to the V6 - TV360 runs Horizon software which is very VoD/streaming-centric, whereas V6 runs recording-centric TiVo-firmware. V6 has a very good streaming product added, while TV360 has had recording retrofitted.

    Conversions are voluntary.

Very good, but are customers told all this before they make their irretrievable 'choice'. How many read this forum? A tiny minority  I suspect. It doesn't seem to be voluntary for the many  that are pushed as a result of a fault or new contract.   It  maybe voluntary in theory, but its not what's actually happening.

And yes it is a downgrade of services all round to save VM money.

The same argument can apply to any tech "upgrade", the supplier/provider will always highlight the plus-points in any migration but it's upto the buyer to check any specifics that matter to them. No amount of advertising is going to cover the whole feature set of a given product.

Blindly accepting the word of sales staff and/or promo material is likely to catch anyone out sooner or later, and not just in tech.

If you want voice control, spend the majority of your viewing time on streaming services, or want Disney/Paramount apps, then TV360 is quite likely a better product for you than V6 is.

Moving to V360 Horizon is a migration to a different platform, not an upgrade. Horizon is the property of VMs multi-national parent cable operator. Globalisation is not always a good thing.

Having said that, Sky TV is now heading in the same direction, away from the satellite products toward streaming only.
