VoIP and Landline
We recently changed our phone so that it now uses the router for a connection. Is this the same as VoIP? If so, do I even need a landline now?

No, this is not the same . You cannot use the service from an app or another device.
The switch is to connect the landline to the hub.
We are still providing the same service as before, this is just being connected via the hub and not the wall socket.
