Home phone answering machine stopped working

I am not getting any messages left on my landline as the answerphone no longer works after 18 rings as it has been. I have checked the handset and all is okay. Have Virgin Media changed a setting? It’s extremely important to have this working as my wife is disabled and cannot always get to the phone in time.

I have rung customer service without success and would be grateful for help to resolve this problem.

      Thank you for getting back  to me.

      Unfortunately not I still have two problem. The most urgent one is the  landline phone not recording messages because the answer machine doesn’t kick in after 18 seconds as mentioned.

      The second problem is a verification code not received within the time limit of 5 minuets with a ntlworld.com email address. My work around was to change my email address for that company to a iCloud.com address not ideal but I can now get into that account after being locked out for some time.

       I would be grateful for some further help especially with the most urgent one….. phone answering machine.
