Caller ID not working on my landline after installing a new Panasonic phone today

Previously I had a BT phone and I’ve always had caller ID on it but as my display panel was starting to break up, I had to get a new phone so I went with a Panasonic and now the caller ID is not working. I’ve spent ages trying to work out why? And I do not understand why this is now not working when you go into settings. It says you must subscribe to this service. My understanding is that it’s a free service with Virgin.
