TV on the Go app setting

The TV on the Go app is really irritating in that as soon as I open it on my iphone, any other app like Spotify or BBC Sounds stops it’s play via my Bluetooth speaker. So, if I am listening to some music and want to check what's on TV later, the music stops within seconds of opening the app. I assume it takes over the Bluetooth connection immediately rather than when actually needed to play video/sound/tv.

Is there a setting somewhere that can stop this happening?

  • Hi EG1,

Thanks for posting, and sorry to hear you're having some issues with TVGO.

The app is most likely set to automatically connect to available Bluetooth connections. You may be able to change this on your phone's audio output settings.

    Let us know.

  • Thanks, there is a way via iPhone settings to select apps and stop them connecting with Bluetooth automatically, but the VMGo app isn't listed as one that does.

It may be that the device/applications cannot operate certain apps and play at the same time, so it would cut out one for the other once selected.

Quite possibly. Although I haven't got any other apps that on immediate open I g straightaway cease anything else playing sound and hog the connection. Which suggests the app has the control and holds the answer to the issue.

It looks like there is no easy fix or setting this end, other than try not to use the app when listening to music.

  • Also and as an aside. Virgin Community sent mean email to ask if thereploes here had helped. Then promptly stuck that in the junk email folder as if it was SPAM. Seems a bit of an own goal.

We cannot comment on other apps. We can only advised on our own.

With regarding to what was sent by Virgin Community. Can you please clarify what you mean by "sent mean email to ask if thereploes"?

Yeah, sorry, that was poor typing. VM emailed, probably an auto one, to ask if the replies here had helped.

On VM mail, the VM Spam filter put the VM email into the SPAM folder. Which is a bit ironic.

Back to the issue, the point reother apps was that only the TV on the Go app was this troublesome. Its the only app that cuts the Bluetooth connection for others.

Hi EG1 👋 Thanks for getting back to us to clarify these extra points.

Our sincerest apologies for any frustration caused by the emails - these are most likely from an automated system to gather and assess feedback of your experience here on community. It's sadly not something that we as members of the community forum support team are controlling, but we will ensure to feed this back internally as you make a good point!

Regarding the Bluetooth connection via the TV Go App - can I ask, is the content that the app is interrupting coming from the same device?

If so, it's most likely that the TV Go app takes priority over any other apps with audio when it's being used. That's because you can also use TV Go to watch records or live TV. This is quite common place across apps which are using Audio as your device will prioritise whichever one you have open at the time. Though we can't speak for other apps, from my personal experience this happens when I use many social media apps or youtube. (Audio issues sometimes also happens if you open an app whilst on a call depending on your mobile device.)

I can only apologise we haven't been able to find the solution you are seeking! Wishing you all the best. 🌞

        Ok, thanks for the reply.

Re the app, yes it cuts audio from same device.

I guess it just boils down then to feedback that having an option or setting on the app to stop that happening would be useful. I get that the app allows watching TV, but it could cut other apps at that stage, not whenever it is opened.
