Sky Sports+ Red Button Access From Virgin TV Go

Is it possible to access all of the additional matches that Sky Sports show via the Red Button on their Sky Sports+ channel when I am away from home, i.e. via the Virgin TV Go app?  I can  access all the 'normal' Sky Sports channels via TV Go, but can't see any way of selecting 'red Button' options - is this possible?

  • Ah brilliant, thanks!  The VM TV Go app is definitely opening Sky Sports in a web browser page for me now, not in a stand-alone app as it used to.  BUT I have discovered that if you click on the WATCH button then it brings up a page of all Sky Sports content including - as you say - the red Button stuff.  Thanks ever so much - I will now be able to share my favourite Rugby League team's game with my 96-year-old mother tomorrow evening when we're visiting :)

    Yes and no.

TV Go only provides for access to linear broadcast channels - those you refer to as "normal" channels, which red-button content is not.

It's only Sky Sports Mix & Sky Sports News that are available via TV Go, all the other Sky Sports broadcast channels are linked from TV Go, and actually stream via the Sky Sports app. That app does usually have links to additional live events that are carried on the Sky Sports+ red-button multiscreen.

Thank you for your response, however what you say is not what I've experienced.  Firstly, right now when I select a Sky Sports channel from the V TV Go app it takes me to view the channel on a web browser page (https://www.skysports.com/watch/sky-sports-plus) without opening the Sky Sports App like it used to.  On this page, there is no readily-identifiable way of selecting the content usually accessed via the Red Button on our Virgin TV box.  Secondly, even when the Sky Sports App used to open, there was still no obvious way of accessing the red Button content.  More than happy to be told I'm blind, but if so, please include a screenshot in your reply so I can check that I've got the same Sky Sports App etc that you've got.  Thx again.

As long as you remain within the UK you can watch all the Sky Sports channels covered by your Sky Sports subscription (including Red Button streams) via the Sky Sports app using your VM UK login. Outside the UK the app will not stream any live content.

  • Thanks Nodrogd, but can you please explain or show me how (I confirm I'm in the UK by the way)?  I cannot see any Red Button on the Sky Sports App, or the Red Button content listed separately somehow to be clicked on.  Even stranger, I have tried to access sky Sports through V TV Go today and, instead of opening the Sky Sports App as it used to, it simply took me to a web page where the content was playing (https://www.skysports.com/watch/sky-sports-plus), but there was still no obvious way to access the Red Button content.  Grateful for any clarification you can give.

The Sky Sports red button content is available on the Home page of the Sky Sports app.  Currently there is just US Open tennis and US Open Juniors & Wheelchair tennis available.

There isn't a dedicated red button link, however the current red button tennis matches are available within the LIVE US OPEN section which is situated directly below the PREMIER LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS section.

At the bottom of the sky sports app, you get the option to watch.   Click on it and you'll get all the options same as the TV 360 sky sports app. I've just checked and there are multiple options at the moment.  I don't know where I can upload a screenshot on this page
