Router setup on new connection. New customer

Hi,

Question on router location for a new connection:  I am looking to move to a property that appears to previously have had a Virgin Media connection. Interested in ordering a Virgin Media connection myself. The cable is terminated at a socket in the living room, but I am keen to have it in the cupboard under the stairs when my connection is set up.

Should I select a manned installation at the time of placing the order? Will I be charged to socket repositioning as a new customer?

Any guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

and the section 'Installing Our Equipment – Quickstart (self-installation) and Technician Installation'

If a Quick Start installation fails for some reason (such as a damaged/no connection) you would have to request a tech visit and you would be eligible for compensation for the delayed activation

but if you know you need a cable relocation anyway you may just want to get the technician installation and the cable move done together to save time/delay.

Further option might be to set up with Quick Start at no charge using the existing connection point and try out the service during your 14 day cooling off period. If it works/you like VM request a non-fault tech call out for £25 to modify the wiring later on.

When VM is working it normally works well but when you have to contact VM for support it is often an unhappy experience so you may want to go for the technician installation and get everything done in one go (but at a cost of the installation fee).
