Fibre box illegally installed on my land

I have seen that this is happening a lot and I can’t see any way to get hold of Virgin to speak to someone about this without being passed from pillar to post.

Earlier this week we had some sub contractors turn up and dig up the pavement to install whatever was required for fibre. So far, so good.

Walked out of the house today to see the new fibre box has been installed on my land. This was without my permission and without any prior knowledge. I am livid.

Any ideas of who can help would be very much appreciated.

To progress, add good quality photographs that clearly show general views of the new VM street cabinet and show that it is not located on public space i.e. it is not on the local authority pavement or on a verge outside the boundary of your plot.

You'll need to be sure of your property boundary.

The box is on my front garden, it is 100% on my property.
Thanks, I will take some photos today and upload.

I see your point. Is there any reason why the hedge/border don't extend to the pavement other than aesthetics?

In the background of your last photo, there is a pole (streetlight / telephone?) standing in a similar position on the grass strip.

If you're going to take on Virginmedia, I wish you luck but you will need to be certain of your facts because they will not move unless they are really forced to do so.

nothing you say or do are likely to have any effect other than solid proof - 1st thing is speak to your local council - they will have approved the placing of the box - they should confirm or deny if that strip is yours or an access strip - the fact its lawn and not pavement can be confusing but it may be council land that they are happy for you and all the others on the street to use

if you are certain ts yours and you have proof on the deeds then you will still have an uphill battle with VM - the usual way they go with things like this is to ignore you in the hope you will go away - again if you are 100% sure its your land you will likely have to go legal - again VM will ignore that if they can - its not going to be easy however you persue it

It is 100% my land. I have the deeds to prove it. It is definitely not council owned land.

I agree, I’m sure VM will be obstinate about doing anything but I won’t let this go. This is seemingly a common occurrence and it is a complete and utter liberty.

If VM don't own the land it is on it is yours to scrap.

That's bad advice as it can be a criminal offence under the Criminal Damage Act 1971, regardless of whether it’s wrongly placed. VM could also launch a civil lawsuit for the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged cabinet and any and all costs associated with restoring service to the customers affected by the damage. Courts take a dim view of damaging other peoples' property without first attempting to resolve the matter peacefully.
