Advice for moving into a place that had VM broadband

Had a quick question, I’m moving into a flat next week and want to set up internet there. The letting agents let me know that the previous tenants had virgin media before so that means the wall boxes should still be there. My question is, does the kit they send out come with the cables that you need to connect to the wall boxes or you have to request them or ask for an engineer to come out and give you? After installing would I need to call VM to let them know it’s been installed and needs activating? Thanks in advance.

The “quick start” kit VM provides for previously connected properties should include coaxial & Ethernet cables as standard. However, I would try & get sight of the inside of the property prior to ordering, as there are many cases of tenants removing the wall boxes, & VM will have no knowledge of this. Also if the location of the outlet is not where you want it (you are only supplied with 1 metre of coaxial cable) you will need to ask for a manned install.

Be fully aware that a typical VM service contract is 18 months.  Longer than a normal rental agreement.

If you vacate the rental before this, you will become liable for paying off the rest of the contracted period.

Many folks have tried to ignore this and find the money taken from their bank a/c
or debt collectors chasing payment and their service fees rapidly adding to the outstanding amount.
