  • Yeah a nice little loophole you have come across methinks. They are two different companies with two different sets of Ts and Cs. Fill your boots (if VM really is your world...).

  • Hello aardvarky,

Welcome back to the community and thanks for taking the time to post. You would be able to take up a new contract with Virgin Media residential after your Virgin Media business contract expires.

    Kind Regards,

Just rang up and the business contract ends on 12th dec, but they say they want 90 days notice to close!

They recommended i put in a complaint and then talk to the team about if i can switch back to the home service and perhaps waive it, since i would be staying with virgin - lets see what happens!

      Hi aardvarky,

Thanks for coming back to us on this one. The notice period to close your account should be set out in the terms and conditions of your business contract. We only have access to residential accounts via this community so unable to provide any information or help on this.

Feel free to keep the community updated though 😊

      Thanks,

        sure, i'll let you know.

If they say no i'll cancel the business contract and see what my options are after that.

I'll be cancelling and seeing what my options are.

        No worries Steven.

The contract ends on the 12th dec so i assume i will get an email/letter. Either way i'll cancel then.

Ive finally managed to cancel it - 90 day notice so it will get cut off on 8th april.

I guess my question is, when would i contact virgin to get a deal on the home service again? How long in advance can they take orders and how long does it take to arrange it?

    thanks

Just bumping this again - I'm not sure how much time i should sensibly give it before i try and arrange the next broadband contract.

Does anyone have an idea how long they usually take? (it's been years since I've done it!)

    thanks

Given that you are all cabled up already (and the VM warehouse issues over Christmas seem to to have largely been overcome) it could be as fast as a week or two. However this is VM we are talking about here so literally anything is possible. One complication for you is that it won't be possible to run the VBN connection in parallel with the new VM connection to cover off any initial VM delays/faults given that the same infrastructure (if not the same hub) is used by both TTBOMK.

i finally got round to ringing and setting up the new home contract to start as the business one runs out.

i got the £85 bill credit that the comparison websites offer (i had to mention it), but one thing im confused about is that once i looked at the welcome email i seem to have been charged £19.99 for the set up - i'm not sure why.
