Being evicted – Virgin still charging to end contact?

London based and long time customer.

I'm being evicted out of my property, eviction notice served.

Just off the chat with Virgin and I have to pay £72 to cancel the contract even though I'm being physically evicted out the property. I also have to send back our router as proof.

Is this legal?

Would appreciate any help or advice!

    I presume this is a S21 scenario.

In terms of the legality, then this is covered for in the T&Cs - service is provided to a specified address, and if the account holder gives notice within the minimum-term, that is technically a breach. Early terminates fees are the contractual result.

That this is not your fault, is something I believe VM have taken into account in previous cases. Wait for the forum staff to respond - they are signified by "Forum Team" beneath their username.

  • Hello Paige__

We're really sorry to hear of the change in circumstances and the impact this is having on yourself, we appreciate you taking the time to raise this via the forums and welcome to the community.

If, as japitts has asked and from what you have advised and this is a Section 21 eviction notice we wouldn't charge any early disconnection fee's. Has a Section 21 eviction notice been issued?

If so, let us know and we'll be happy to assist with this 😊

I spoke with someone called JHon Mark on Virgin’s customer chat and they informed me that absolutely nothing could be done and I would still have to pay the disconnection fee.

I have mixed messages - who can I email about this? With the early eviction I’m so careful with money and this early disconnection fee is a lot of money for myself.

      Please advise!
