Outlook won't connect to IMAP
Hi, Today, my blueyonder.co.uk email stopped syncing in Outlook (on a Windows 11 Laptop). I removed the account in Outlook and tried to set it up again as IMAP. Outlook says 'Waiting for you Email Provider' and then it fails with the message 'Sign in failed. Please try again in a few minutes. You may need an app password'. I am using the app password. In fact, I went into My Virgin Media and created a new app password to use. I can access the emails on my android phone and tablet using this new app password, but it is only failing in Outlook. If I then click on 'Troubleshoot', it shows the error code INVALIDCREDENTIALS TEMPORARILYUNAVAILABLE. I have a business email account (via another provider) and that is connected tOutlook fine via IMAP, so it is an issue with Virgin. Anyone know what is going on? Thanks.Solved1.5KViews7likes44CommentsVIRGIN ON THE RIDICULOUS
What on earth ARE you doing VIRGIN? Your EMail system is in total disarray! We have three laptops, all up to date on Windows 11 and all using Outlook to access. Each one is now suddenly treating the connection very differently! Only one is now working to a virginmedia mail address, so forget it being only a legacy address issue. That one also still currently works to a very busy ntlworld address used for Freeware user contact. The other two have totally differing actions from the same virginmedia address, one now telling me there is unread mail, but not displaying it on Outlook OR online web access. This does not include one ntlworld connection severed without warning a year ago now, Despite numerous requests, NO help given, NOTHING offered. This was my wife's account used for extensive volunteer work, inc elderly and disabled people access. Killed stone dead without warning. It took months to get an alternative EMail system working elsewhere as many mail recipients just could not cope with the no warning sudden loss of all comms. SO, from other posts here and elsewhere numerous people are increasingly experiencing this sort of disaster from VIRGIN. Well, there IS a next stage if this unhelpful lack of action continues, and that is to go VERY public. Virgin customers might like to be aware that I have in another location due no cable available have SKY inc SKY EMail. Its been faultless.152Views1like6CommentsImap not working on W11 laptop
My Outlook stopped receiving & sending NTL emails on a W11 laptop, but works on my Android phone. I only found out yesterday that I was meant to be using a app generated 4 word password which I started using. it took about 10 hours for Outlook to recognise the new password this was after clearing the cache & uninstalling & reinstalling Outlook. I changed the password on my phone & Outlook works perfectly. I received 1 email on my laptop since I changed to the new type of password & now it has stopped working again, & sign-in constantly fail You can't download the classic Outlook anymore even though MS have a page to download it. You get instead MS365+Office which needs to be paid for. VM don't know how to fix the problem. Their extended tech dept which you have to pay for have no idea how to fix it. Their solution was just wait. Can anybody help?213Views1like9CommentsHow to access established (older) email accounts
Like many I needed to access my Virgin Media account to try and fix email issues. After being a customer for over 30 years I had multiple email accounts and now I am struggling to access and fix even 1 off them. When did the system change to the new VMO2 account and password login? Did I miss any information or has this just been very poorly communicated, or even communicated. How does this new system work, what needs to be done to access my Virgin Media account and old ntl world.com emails? I used to have a email linked to my account and from there I could see 5 ntlworld.com email addresses. Now I can’t see or manage anything on those email accounts. How do I add those addresses and change passwords? I try to set up a new VMO2 account but it goes around in circles and doesn’t complete, why? Do I need another non ntlworld email account to set up and access my Virgin Media account and emails? This seems crazy. When I even try to login or create accounts using some of my email addresses they are not recognised as if they don’t exist, yet my older iPad can still access and download messages? Some accounts just constantly give error messages regarding VPN, or access via another machine, error IDF-12B. How do I get around this when I’m trying to set up a new iPad for daily access? I don’t have any O2 accounts, only a Virgin Media account and products. Where are the instructions, how do I get help to fix my accounts and access? Does anybody have definite working instructions.86Views0likes1CommentBlueyonder email password reset
Have used Virgin Email via Outlook for years but last week it started asking me to login and I can't remember my password. Virgin Media account is in my wifes name and defaults to her gmail address, so how do I change my email password for me@blueyonder.co.uk?33Views0likes1CommentOutlook email help
Trying to get help on behalf of my mum for email access. Historically she had a blueyonder email address. A while ago virgin stated she had to create an outlook email address. Had some teething problems but managed to keep logged in to my virgin media and email. They stated even if people emailed to blueyonder it would still be received at the outlook address. This seemed to happen. Not sure if it’s worth noting, but she’s always had trouble accessing outlook address through outlook and can only see emails through my virgin media. Recently it’s logged her out and she can’t get back in. She enters the username for my virgin media and it won’t accept the password, so clicks on forgot password, which then sends a verification code to her outlook email which she can’t access. We chatted through WhatsApp to someone who referred it to IT but have heard nothing. Hope my explanation makes sense if anyone can help? Thanks112Views0likes5CommentsCannot Link Account to O2 Login
I am having difficulty linking my account under the new O2 login regime. I have nominated a non Virgin Media backup email address, and kept the password feature. I have clicked on the link to verify my email address and clicked on the 'Link Virgin Media Account' button. I get taken to a page that asks for "Last name on account", easy to fill in. "Account Number", easy to fill in. "Area reference number", impossible to fill in. When I try to select "34" at the foot of the list, the box jumps to "31", the number above. The account is therefore not recognised. Can someone tell me if this is deliberate please? Outlook has been unable to Authenticate two of my email passwords since last weekend, I've looked here for advice and am trying to get back into my account to see what can be done. Thank you.933Views0likes3CommentsNTL world email with Outlook issue
Hi, I am trying to resolve an issue for my brother/sister-in-law. They have NTL world email address and both have accounts to log into virgin media and retrieve these via web browser absolutely fine (I set-up and tested for them) and they used to be able to access via Outlook. However, this has now stopped working and I have tested their outlook by adding my ntlworld email which worked fine. I have tried to set-up from both my home W11 PC and my MacMini all to no avail! Any ideas? Thanks, Steve.93Views0likes1CommentOutlook Attachments ?
For some reason, a recent email sent to me with a pdf attachment arrived but the email was displaying 14 attachment boxes, 13 of which were just outlook boxes with a desciptor plus the legimate pdf attachment. Despite searching to disable ;whatever, nothing seems to help and I am stuck with this unsightly problem. Any ideas how I can prevent these unwanted outlook attachments showing up alongside the genuine attachment? To add, this is only a very recent occurence.73Views0likes1Comment
