Damaged redundant wire, and non-redundant Coax
Hi, I had a couple of guys from the Kelly Group, come out this morning, they ran a cable from the street into an existing VM box on the outside of the house. So my Broadband and TV is now up and running. However, they've left a couple of wires, which must have been in the box from before, trailing. One of the wires looks damaged and possibly redundant. The other looks like a coax cable, and it looks like it's from the internal junction box from my upstairs bedroom. I don't think that this latter cable is redundant. If it's not, I would ideally like it wired in, should I ever want to get VM in my bedroom. Could an engineer possibly come out to have a look at this please, to get rid of what's not needed, and to retain what is?41Views0likes2CommentsIs 1m or less pre-terminated coax cable for between wall outlet and hub 5 please?
Hi, Just wanted to try a pre-terminated VM coax cable between our white interior wall outlet and our Hub 5 (in modem mode) in the hall (doesn't do any Wi-Fi duties obviously blush) as just wanted to cross it off my list of possible locations for a poor connection (existing cable was engineer fitted in 2011 and regularly checked its tightly screwed up)? Cheers in advance. DaveSolved1.3KViews0likes18CommentsMove router location using TV outlet
Previous owners of the house installed VM TV sockets in a location where I would love to have the router. So instead of plugging the router into where VM first enters the house can I use another location that has VM coax installed. Basically I don't know if it is a different type of cable that carries VM TV signal Vs broadband.543Views0likes3CommentsWeird distribution cable
Hello all, I just moved to a new home and carried over my Virgin connection. From the outside of the house I can see the distribution cable running from a mast, over my roof and into the wall. However, the end of the cable looks nothing like a coax termination, it's just the bare core; this means I can't plug it in the inner receptacle of the VM wall box. I called support and they're sending a technician, but can someone confirm why would the termination look like that or if perhaps I'm misunderstanding something? Thanks.SolvedInstall Connection Query
Just wanted to ask, I’ve placed my order for the Volt M350 package. I’ve recently renovated and the existing coax cables were cut outside in the box and fed under the new drive. From the box pictured, a separate coax travels back under the drive across the window and inside the house to behind a blanking plate. This is where you can see two cables circled - the wrapped one travels right to inside the house. It looks as if someone has been today and installed a connector and new wire in the box as seen in the picture attached. That wire wasn’t there before and I didn’t think they needed to add a new one. You can see the two ends that were already there (circled). Can I just confirm that this will still be connected to the existing wire in that box which feeds under the drive, to the other side of the window and then in to the house? I’ve had it confirmed that this wire is live so I don’t see a reason why not. Thanks in advance.360 box connection
I currently have an old Tivo box and am considering asking Virgin for a 360 box instead, when my contract expires (soon). I'd like to know if the 360 box can be hardwired into the Virgin (once Telewest!) coax wall socket that my Tivo box is connected to. Or whether it has to rely on wifi or an ethernet cable to the hub. The hub is in another room, and a long way away from the TV. A related question: If I chose to move to Virgin stream can the streaming box be connected to the wall socket?Solved1.4KViews0likes2Comments
