TiVo box stuck on software update page
Hi all, new poster here. My mum is elderly and struggling with her Virgin TV box. I went through the system info and it appears to be a TiVo one. Yesterday when I visited, a standard Software Update overlay came up on screen with the usual “accept” or “later” options. When she clicked accept the whole system froze. The sound continued from the TV show that was on but the remote buttons all stopped working and nothing happened. Pushing back, exit, TV or Home all did nothing. I switched off and on but it happened again within a few minutes, same issue of it freezing when the “accept” button was pushed. I did a harder switch off, turning off the machine and at the plug and leaving for a few seconds and it appeared to fix it. Concerned it would happen again after I left I tried contacting Virgin anyway. It took me about an hour to find a way through the automated service to speak to a person but they didn’t offer any ideas except switching the machine off and on and said that after checks there were no issues with my mum’s system. This morning it did the same thing again. She switched off and on at the wall and it’s not happened again yet today. Any ideas what’s going on or how to fix? The box is old so I’m wondering how she gets a new one but it’s very difficult to get through to an actual person and even then it’s not the easiest issue to explain.48Views0likes2CommentsVirgin fail to send packaging to return tivo box
Since receiving a new tivo box over a year ago, I have contacted Virgin 8 times to request the packaging to send the old one back. This has included online, on the phone and via engineers who came to the house. Each time, there were profuse apologies and the promise to send the packaging. I am now considering taking the old box to the tip but don't want to be charged (although advisors I speak to on the phone seem unaware of the history of my dilemma or whether I may be charged). Anybody else had a similar experience and able to advise, please?60Views0likes3CommentsTivo remote not working help
So my mother in law has TiVo and the remote doesn’t work with the TiVo box anymore, changed the batteries and the remote itself works as it changes the volume on the tv but just doesn’t connect and work with the box. I have looked online and it doesn’t show how to pair them as they are infrared so doesn’t need to be. So is there a way to fix this without virgin probably replacing the box and remote.82Views0likes1CommentReplacement TIVO remote
I recently ordered a replacment TIVO remote, but when it arrived, it looked more like a V6 remote (although the accompanying sticker directed me to the .../tivoremotehelp web page). Anyway, I can't get the new remote to talk to the TIVO box, making me think either it really is a V6 remote, or I need to do something special (the TIVO remote help page says it should connect to the box without any faffing). Before I start the tortuous route of trying to get through to Virgin Media, could I be missing something - e.g., is there some sort of pairing I should be trying? Hi. I’ve had an email saying I need to upgrade my TiVo box to keep my sky Sports and TNT subscription? I’ve followed the link on the email and ended up on a bit a rabbit hole on the VM website. I don’t really want to call customer services if possible. Can I complete this order via the VM team on here - or does anyone know how to do it online? Any help would be greatly appreciated.638Views0likes1CommentLOW VOLUME ON FILMS
On my TiVo box, I have noticed that when a film is on, the volume for the actors is very low, but the music and sound effects can be loud. the volume control has no effect. This happens on all Chanels. I have played around with the audio settings but nothing seems to have any effect. Any ideas ?1.4KViews0likes3Comments
