Replacement TIVO remote

I recently ordered a replacment TIVO remote, but when it arrived, it looked more like a V6 remote (although the accompanying sticker directed me to the .../tivoremotehelp web page).

Anyway, I can't get the new remote to talk to the TIVO box, making me think either it really is a V6 remote, or I need to do something special (the TIVO remote help page says it should connect to the box without any faffing).

Before I start the tortuous route of trying to get through to Virgin Media, could I be missing something - e.g., is there some sort of pairing I should be trying?

Regards,

Cliff Cooley

  • Hello AnotherUser,

Welcome back to the Community and thanks for taking the time to post. I’m sorry to hear of the issues that you’re having with your Tivo remote control.

Having looked into this the order for the remote control was correct. Are you able to share a picture of the remote control thats been sent out to you?

    Kind Regards,

    Steven_L

    Hi,

I have just received another remote controller which again looks just like the V6 controller, but this time I have managed to get it talking to the TIVO box straight away! Result. I did try the previously sent replacement controller again, but still cannot get it to talk to the TIVO box. Hey ho.

    Regards,

    Cliff

Even though the "V6" controller seems to control the TIVO box OK (i.e., no problems yet!), the blurb that came with the controller was all about pairing and controlling a V6 box!

      What's going on?

      Regards,

      Cliff

Even though the "V6" controller seems to operate the TIVO box OK (i.e., no proble,s yet), the blurb that came with it regarding how to set it up was all about a V6 box! Go figure!

What's going on? Don't they do proper TIVO controllers any more?

    Regards

    Cliff

Hi AnotherUser, we would need to advise that our Tivo boxes are no longer provided to customers and therefore it may not be possible to offer you an exact replica of the remote control in the photograph on the left hand side.

Pairing the remote control would need to be completed to sync with the set top box, however if this has already been done for you, the only other matter would be if you wished to control the volume of your TV with the Virgin Media remote control.

Do feel free to come back to us if you have any further questions or seek further guidance.

      Thanks,

      David_Bn

        Hi David,

According to the various help pages on the VM site, the TIVO box and remote control work using infra-red, and connects automatically, whereas the V6 box and remote control work via Bluetooth, and hence needs pairing.

That being so, how does one pair the new remote controller with the TIVO box?

        Regards,

        Cliff
