My problem is that I can't rename the connected devices on my Hub 5 router. It seems that this feature was removed in a recent software update (for reasons that I don't quite understand). But there's still an information icon that explains how to do it - even though that method no longer works. Re: Renaming connected devices which lists all the clients connected to your router, both wireless and wired The app you're talking about is specifically called "Wireless Network Watcher". The description does not mention wired devices. At this point, I'm only interested in wired devices - so it seems this will be no help. Thanks for your response though. Renaming connected devices Yesterday, I ran into the issue described in this post: Hub 5 Device Name Change - Not Possible So I guess I'm not going to be able to rename the devices that are connected to my router. Which leaves me with two questions: Why was this change made? Does renaming devices have some potentially disastrous consequence that I'm unaware of? When will VM remove the information icon on the "Connected Devices" page that continues to tell users that they can edit device names Broadband + Stream - best prices I've spent far too much of the morning speaking to VM on both Twitter and WhatsApp, trying to do the annual contract renegotiation dance. Honestly, it gets harder each year. And the prices are creeping up. So I think we might have passed the point at which I can justify paying for the full TV/Broadband/Phone package. Currently, I'm on MaxIt TV, 350M broadband and some phone package that I don't use. I'm paying £65/month and when the discount expires, that'll go up to £92. Which is simply too much. I've ended up booking a disconnection for the date when my contract ends. But I'm going to have one last go at speaking to customer retentions and seeing what they can do for me. I'm thinking that I can drop to just broadband + Virgin Stream. I know I can get Three internet + Freely for about £25/month. So I'm hoping that VM will be able to offer a similar price. But I'm just asking to see what sort of prices people here have been able to haggle for a similar package. Cheers, Dave... Re: Disney+ login I can log in and out as many times as I want on any other device. I know my login details. But, yes, of course you don't control the app. I think I'm complaining to the wrong people. This is a question for the developers of the Disney+ app. Dave... Re: Reset Virgin 360 box - lose all recordings My broadband has been performing as expected - in tests I'm getting the 350 Mb that VM promises. And I have no problem streaming using apps built into my TV or on my NVIDIA Shield. My 360 box is connected using an ethernet cable. It's the one that VM gave me. I can certainly try switching it for another one. But it'll be a couple of weeks before I'd expect to see the symptoms starting to recur. The box did upgrade to a new version of the software during the reset. And I see it's now running 5.10. One idea I've just had. At the start of the year, I signed up with BARB and Kantar have fitted all their equipment to monitor what I'm watching. I wonder if that's having an effect. Thanks for the advice. I can't see I'd miss much with a Freely box and a few carefully-chosen streaming services. Currently I have Maxit TV. But I can't think of many channels I'd miss that badly. Re: Disney+ login I can't see what good creating a password would do. I already have an account, with a password that works on all of my other devices. But from my previous message: "When I give it my existing password, it tells me that it's not a strong enough password (which is nonsense, as it's my existing D+ password and contains all the character types they ask for)." I've seen some talk about VM deliberately blocking logins using the D+ standard plan. But I've always dismissed that as nonsense. Could it be true? Dave... Reset Virgin 360 box - lose all recordings I've just had to factory reset my Virgin 360 box. I'm used to that. Over the last four months or so, I've had to do it every three weeks or so. I recognise the symptoms First the channel icons stop loading Then the images on the home page and in the EPG stop loading The streaming apps stop streaming If I leave it long enough, recordings will start failing I think there's a fault in the box. I'd report that and get the box changed - but this is the third one I've had and they've all been sub-standard in some way. This one, at least, has a fault that I can usually deal with. But... As I said, I've just done the regular reset. Because I've done it so often, I'm well aware of how to do it so that the box retains my recordings. But this evening, that didn't work. Once the box came back to life I had no recordings and no planned recordings. And previously, the disk was about 50%. I've had enough. I'm paying £65 a month for a service that just isn't fit for purpose. It's simply not worth what I'm paying you. I know I'm still under contract, so it would cost me to get out. But maybe that's not the case it you're not providing the service I'm paying for. I've been a customer since VM began. Before that I was with ntl and C&W. But I've finally had enough. As soon as I can get out of this contract, I'm off. I'm going to switch to another broadband provider and buy a Freely TV. This just isn't good enough for the money I'm paying. Disney+ login I've had a Disney+ subscription since the service became available a couple of years ago. My account is not linked to my VM account, but I've accessed it through the Disney+ app on my 360 box since the app was available. Recently, I reset my 360 box, which means I needed to log into all of my streaming apps. Most of them worked fine, but I can't log in to Disney+. It seems to want me to set up a new account, rather than letting me log into my existing account. When I try to log in, it tells me to "create a password" - which is wrong as I already have a password. When I give it my existing password, it tells me that it's not a strong enough password (which is nonsense, as it's my existing D+ password and contains all the character types they ask for). Luckily, my TV also has a built-in D+ app, so I can use that instead. But it's annoying that I can no longer use the VM version of the app. Has anyone else experienced this? I noticed it a few weeks ago, so it's weird that it hasn't been fixed if it's a bug.
