Thanks for the reply - I only wanted to know if the email app password was viewable retrospectively by account holder - anyway it appears not, only possible to regenerate I assume? This hasn't involved getting a ticket raised atm, its not an error as such, just a query about how the system works. Email sender sidelined to spam at VM? I have one particular sender whose emails have recently got bounced to spam at VM mail. This means they are not getting through when I check emails using any of my three email apps (Thunderbird desktop/android phone email/ipad email. I have taken to going onto my VM mail to find his emails in spam and flagging them not spam - in which case they then get through to inbox on VM and then all my 3rd party apps... Ive tried putting the senders email address in my VM address book, but this hasnt helped. Ive got fed up with this so I phoned VM Homeworks for some help - ouch.....Ive now been escalated through four levels - Homeworks agents 1 and then 2, then Gadget Recue, then Cable Care, and now its stuck with FMS(?) awaiting a ticket response within 5 days. I was on the phone for 2.5 hours this afternoon. It seems to me the problem is at VM end, because if I log in to VM without even opening my third party apps the emails are in VM spam...however all the support agents seemed obsessed with Thunderbird and kept suggesting I 'spoke to Thunderbird people.' They also kept wanting me to re generate my 3rd party email passwords......why?? Am I seeing this wrong ? At no point did it feel like the support people were actually listening to me...they kept asking me questions which suggested they didnt fully understand my set up...I await ticket response atm, feeling frustrated. Re-confirm Virginmedia email app password? During some troubleshooting with VM they asked me to regenerate my virgin media 3rd party app password. Format as I understand it is xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx This involved re - entering password first on Thunderbird email on desktop pc - when I typed it it wouldn't accept despite several attempts. I had made a written note of it, accurately I thought! I then copied and pasted it and it worked.. During troubleshooting I lost sight of the on screen password I copied...and when I subsequently tried to type into phone and ipad email, it wouldn't accept it.. Question I have - is it possible to re-display that password in VM settings anywhere - I only seem to be able to generate a new one, which VM dont want me to do whilst they are troubleshooting an email problem. Thanks Re: Accessing VM webmail and user account Hi Coenoby - thanks for helpful reply. ref 2 - under old system setting up and managing email accounts was done via the user account and all email accounts were listed in user account and could be deleted or managed from there - I'm guessing this has gone for security reasons and each email account is managed via its own login. IF i want to set up a new email account where would i go? There appears to be an add email account under each and every one of my webmail accounts - I find this a bit confusing as not all these are account holder accounts I have three accounts: accountholder (gmailaddr) / myself (ntlworldaddr) / wife (ntlworldaddr) The ntlworld accounts were added as additional non account holder accounts and these are our main emails. We were recently offered a 360 box free and the links allowed me to request it under myself at ntlworld ? But that is not the user account, and would have thought it would need to be thanks Dave Accessing VM webmail and user account About ?6 months ago I was required to set up third party emails/passwords to access webmail via browser - I was also given hyphenated four word passwords to use on mobile email clients. It seems with the O2 business merger this has changed and no longer applies. (Could someone confirm please?) I was led into this reset via a text from 02 about my price, and went into linking my virgin accounts to 02 Ive just about got there but its very confusing - i can now access user main account and 2 x ntl email accounts without using passwords - just the 'passkey' feature My queries are - Do i still need the 4 word passwords for third party email clients on mobile ? They are all working as originally set up a few months back. I used to be able to view all my accounts including main and various email accounts in one place and manage them etc....but this feature no longer available. thanks Dave Virgin webmail flagging bona fide senders as spam Two senders are regularly getting flagged as spam by VM before they reach my email client. One of them I have put into VM address book but it still does it. I always click not spam when I find them in VM spam, but they still get sidelined before reaching my client inbox. Unable to sign in to TV go on PC using Chrome In lieu of channel outage issue on V6 box was hoping to use TV go on PC via Chrome which enables cast to TV. Using this link https://virgintvgo.virginmedia.com/en/settings/language/login I can get it via above - keep getting 'Sign In' but when I click, no sign in email or password boxes come up - just returns to Sign In label . OK using app on Android and ipad, but the apps for those don't have a casting option. How can I sign in via Chrome...? Re: Virgin webmail/email problem again...(ntlworld email) Agreed - also it keeps marking regular senders as spam before they even reach me - then when I flag them not spam they get through to me, but stay showing in spam list at webmail for a while - very confusing. Re: Virgin webmail/email problem again...(ntlworld email) Many thanks for both replies - this has clarified things. Have now managed to access wife's ntl webmail using the 3rd party email address, and have flagged the four word password for use only in email client😊 Virgin webmail/email problem again...(ntlworld email) My wifes email is e.g. 'wife'@ntlworld.com This is one on my main virgin account along with my own ntlworld email A couple of months back she was locked out due to a security flag and having finally reached 2nd line support we went through the complicated process of getting it back - being talked through the convoluted instructions here: https://www.virginmedia.com/dpb/help/change-my-virgin-media-email-address?_gl=1*1spp7hr*_gcl_au*ODM3NzE1MzE1LjE3MTg5NjI4Mzc.*FPAU*ODM3NzE1MzE1LjE3MTg5NjI4Mzc.*_ga*NzMzMjQ2OTgzLjE3MTg5NjI4MzQ.*_ga_7NQRHWTHK9*MTcyMDUzNTQ4NC4xMC4xLjE3MjA1MzU1MjUuMTkuMC4w We were then given a new password (4 x 4 letter words separated by hyphens) which enabled us to continue logging into the original ntlworld address - using our Thunderbird email client. We now want to look at her webmail for ntl adress and the above password we were given is rejected - sending us round the above loop again presumably....? We are waiting for 2nd line support to phone back but they usually phone whilst I'm away from pc.. I just wondered if I'm missing something by trying to sign in using that new password ? Virgin has now started sidelining to spam some regular email senders before they reach our client - hence the need to view on webmail. We are getting fed up with virgin ntl email and are considering changing to outlook email - but ntl has been in use for 15 years or more with very simple names, and it will involve a lot of messing about. Has anyone changed email provider in this way and how is Outlook....? Solved
