I exported the inbox and subfolders as a pst, then imported them into the new POP3 Outlook. The structure was still required. All sub folders populated correctly, and test email came through on both the new Outlook and Android. I'm glad I didn't have to go down the 4-word app password route, and especially the VM02ID. I personally have gone down the Proton route, and migrating across from VM. Happy New Year folks, John Re: Migrating email account to new laptop Hi goslow, yes, it is a classic Outlook desk based app from an Office suite. On the back of the kind answer from Coenoby, I can delete the new pop3 account in Outlook and replace it with a new IMAP setup, of which I use as well. A couple of further questions, if I may: The current VM webmail only has the default email structure, whereas the desktop based Outlook has all the sub folders. If I change Outlook to IMAP, will the online VM webmail change also reflect this? (it doesn't matter, as my friend is unlikely to access VM webmail unless Outlook and Android email fails for any reason). Currently my friend's VM webmail password is the same as the desktop Outlook one. Will going down the IMAP route force him down the 4 blocks of 4 password? Reason I ask is that I had to set this up several months ago, so my Outlook is 4 blocks of 4, but can't for the life of me remember if my VM webmail and email through Android uses that format, or the 'classic' password. I had to link my VM account recently to an O2 account, which was a total pain, so hopefully I won't have to do that. If that is the case, I may just import the PST file and use the current POP3 account settings using the current password. Thanks again both, John Migrating email account to new laptop Hi, I'm helping a friend set up a new laptop, who has an existing Outlook account on his old laptop with Pop3. The current Outlook setup has multiple sub folders. On setting up on the new laptop, via Pop3, only new emails come through. If I change the settings on the new laptop to IMAP, will all of the existing emails and sub folders then populate? If yes, great, if not, presume I can export a PST file to include all sub folders, and import it into the new Outlook? My friend also has access to his emails via his Android device, and wants to continue receive emails sync'd on both laptop and phone. Many thanks, John Re: Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Hub 3.0 Not so much the speed increase improving the WiFi, I was hoping that a Hub 5.0 may have a better chip or something. If Powerlines aren't the solution, I'll probably buy the modern extender that you kindly provided the link for. Re: Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Hub 3.0 Virginmedia said that they would increase the speed from 250 to 350, but refused to upgrade the Hub, and will post a pod on Monday. Re: Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Hub 3.0 Thanks for the comments. I was hoping that the Hub 5 might have better WiFi strength. I'm beginning to wonder if powerline extenders might be the best way to go, although I was hoping to show no cables, as there is not enough room behind the wall mounted TV for the adapter. Re: Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Hub 3.0 As for the Hub, it is only 3.0, so will get a Hub 5.0 and see if that makes a difference. Re: Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Hub 3.0 Just an update, I have the TV currently working, but only connected to the range extender by Cat5, the TV picking it up as a wired connection. Date and time and location, firmware were up to date. I spent a good time troubleshooting. One thing that made a difference was lowering the Hub's security settings down from WPA2-PSK. Once I then tried choosing 'Wireless connection' on the TV, it gave me a list of the available networks (previously, all I had seen was the option to set up a Custom Network using WPS or WPS pin, neither of which worked and timed out after 2 minutes). Problem was, it then gave a screen with no config on at all, all zeroes, and a message saying 'The MAC Address is invalid. Contact Samsung Customer Service for information'. Plugging the Cat5 into the router, I chose 'Wired Connection', and this picked everything up again. I'm still baffled as to why the wireless is acting up though. The TP Link is now showing in the connected devices section of the Hub setup, and no filters on anything. I appreciate the assistance so far. Re: Samsung Smart TV not connecting to Hub 3.0 Cat5 works perfectly, but not a solution. I'm looking at the hub now, and will reset it if needed and report back.
