So in the new year I will get all my emails backed up on Thunderbird and move to gmail, unless there are others? That will be a pain, I must have hundreds of accounts to change. ntlworld emails delayed Hi I am an NHS patient and they communicate via an outsourced system called patienthub. The system works like this: I get an email from patienthub telling me that I have new information on the patienthub website and they supply a link to click on. I click and go the patient hub login page where I enter my date of birth and email address, whereupon a message comes up telling me that a verification code has been emailed to me and I must enter it within 90 seconds before it expires. The problem is for the last 2 months the verification code has been taking between 6 and 20 minutes to arrive. I sent a test email from another account to myself and that arrived promptly so I took it up with patienthub themselves. This was extremely difficult as I could not find an NHS department willing to put me through to patienthub, After trying various avenues I eventually got a reply from a patient hub team member who said that they have had a lot of problems like this but only from people with an ntlworld email address. In fact they said they believed Virgin are not maintaining the old ntlworld addresses to the same standard. Could there be any truth in this? I have taken temporary measures to access my patienthub account but need to sort the problem with emails SolvedRe: what category Ethernet cable to link my Tivo to my router? need 8 meters Hello Adri, I am now ready to book an engineer visit to re-cable our TV box installation. There is also an issue with the wall entry point for the main internet cable to router, as no box was fitted by the engineer in 2021, just unsupported loose cable. We would like a proper box fitted. We know where we want the cable to be run and have access to all points. We may not need extra cable as the existing cable is now too long. I understand we should now wait for this post to be answered, is that correct? Re: what category Ethernet cable to link my Tivo to my router? need 8 meters OK will call them in but will need to get the floorboards up first Re: what category Ethernet cable to link my Tivo to my router? need 8 meters Sorry Tudor I had to mark Space Phoenix as the helpful answer, but glad to still give you Kudos Re: what category Ethernet cable to link my Tivo to my router? need 8 meters "remote access via TV Control" how do you mean? access to what? I have never been clear about whether ethernet is needed, we didn't use ethernet when we previously used this box between 2018 and 2021, but when booting up last week it took at least an hour to get all the functions and I got the impression connecting the ethernet (temporarily via a shorter cable that goes across a doorway) sped things up. Anyway, I've unplugged the cable and everything seems to work OK still. Anyway thanks for this advice. Learning curve. I will still need to run the coax cable through the ceiling void and will want to remake the connection as the current one is much too long. Any tips here? It's a cabelcon 3.9. I'm looking up the how to? on youtube etc. what category Ethernet cable to link my Tivo to my router? need 8 meters I need to make up an Ethernet cable to link my Samsung Tivo to my router. It has to be about 8 meters long. Is it OK to use 5e or would 6 utp be better? SolvedRe: Untidy installation Thank you, will respond to message Untidy installation We had our house extended and internal walls dry lined and the internet wall entry point fittings were damaged. I asked for an engineer to re-fit properly but he left it like this. 2 cables , one for the router and the phone cable with the box hanging loose. I assume I can just cut the phone cable now as we have the phone connected to the router, but surely there should be a proper socket box to stop the internet cable chafing on the brickwork and plasterwork? I don't mind fitting one myself or paying for it. Solved
