Contract ending

Hi I was looking to downgrade my package as I will be coming to the end of my contract on the 19th march and wanted to stay with virgin media, but after todays performance it seems I will have no other but to cancel my contract,

today i contacted virgin through the chat and after lengthy waiting times I was told that my new package would be £118 on a 18month contract which I declined , as I was leaving the chat I was asked if I would like to chat with a live person which I agreed to, after waiting about 10mins I explained that my contract was ending in march and that,  if possible,  I would like to downgrade my package,  and also mentioned that I would prefer to stay with Virgin after answering some more questions and another 10mins waiting the assisitant quoted me £108 which I also declined.

before signing off I asked the live chat how much it would be for broadband only and he came back to me with a quote of £65 and was told it would be on a rolling contract basis to which I thanked him for his time and left the chat, I just feel that I had spent ages online today trying to discuss a new package and both chats could not grasp the fact I was trying to downgrade my package as both prices I was quoted were twenty and thirty pounds above what I am presently paying just now, so although I would prefer to stay with virgin it looks as if it will not be possible.

What combination of services do you currently have? ("full package" could mean different things to different people)

What combination of services are you looking to have?

Presumably you had already priced up alternative providers for your combination of services prior to your contact with VM, and quoted those prices to them?

yes!

I am presently with virgin on the full package, all I wanted was a reasonable quote from virgin and to downgrade my package but they came back to me twice with figures way above the amount I am paying just now for the full package.

Hi was willing to stay with virgin had I received a reasonable quote but was getting quotes that was 25 to 30 pounds more for a downgrade than what I am paying for a full package , you fibre contacted me with a 30 day rolling contract price which was 25 pounds cheaper than what I was quoted on virgins live chat.

Hi I have the Volt Gig1 Fibre Broadband and maxit tv

Maxit TV

  • Sky Sports and Cinema Collection
  • Sky Sports HD Pack
  • Kids Pick
  • Virgin TV 360 box
  • Virgin TV 360 Mini box
  • Sky Entertainment & Cinema Ultra HD
  • Netflix Standard
  • TV and Broadband Discount

was looking to maybe delete the sky cinema Collection and Sky Sports to try and reduce the cost, as previously mentioned I would have liked to stay with virgin if possible but the costs are going to be to high for me to renew contract again.

You should be able to just remove the premium add-ons, you might just find those are loaded with discounts and thus the per-unit cost of the TV elements increases - so the saving potentially not as much as you expect. Maxit is a legacy package, now replaced with Mega - which doesn't include TNT Sports.

I suspect any re-bundling might also remove the Volt element as that's supposed to be top-end. But only VM can advise in detail.
