Managed to pair with tv and all works fine including putting the tv onto standby! but it still does not let me control the volume with the 360 remote? Have tried rebooting, pairing and unpairing again and again , rebooted the 360 box still no joy. Very frustrating as having to use two remotes

Hi @Stappo thanks for your post although we're sorry to hear of the concerns you've raised here.
If you are following the instructions to pair the volume, then it's likely your model of TV sadly doesn't enable you to use the volume button.
Can you confirm what model your TV is please?

It’s a year old Hisense tv, exactly the same model used with my other box and that paired perfectly. It’s defo not the tv that’s the issue

Thanks for reaching back out and we understand and are sorry for this. We are adding new models all the time, its worth trying it every couple of weeks.
Once your TV does an update then try the remote.

The new 360 does not give you the option to manually type a code, it just auto generates and it doesn’t work

Hi again Stappo The 360 does give the option to manually enter a code.
Most devices can usually be set up by entering the first four characters after the screen size or model name, or by entering four consecutive characters from the model name.
In your instance go to Settings > Audio & Video > Pair remote with devices > TV devices > Hisense
You said you have the 40A4BGTUK so I would try entering 40A4, or A4BG or GTUK in Settings > Audio & Video > Pair remote with devices > TV devices > Hisense
The 360 also provides the option to try the key testing method.
Audio & Video > Pair remote with devices > TV devices
Don't just accept the first one that appears to work. Try a few more as (like the older V6 and Tivo boxes) there are often 3 or 4 that will work, some more fully than others.
