Why is the 360 remote control not operating the volume on the box, changes channels etc but not he volume?.             My tv is a Toshiba around 12 months old Model 50UA3D83BD. I have tried some of the examples listed on here and still no luck. Why is there a problem with the remote.

Hi @victorm1

Are you sure that your TV model is 50UA3D83BD?  I couldn't find a match for that device on my 360 so I googled that device for reviews and manuals and nothing came up in the search.

I did however find 50UA3D63DB using google search and entering 63DB as the device model number on the 360 brings up a match which works the channel and volume buttons.

Also on the 360, did you try the key testing method under Audio & Video > Pair remote with devices > TV devices?

Don't just accept the first one that appears to work. Try a few more as (like the older V6 and Tivo boxes) there are often 3 or 4 that will work, some more fully than others.

My apologies, I mistook the 6 for an 8 and b & d the wrong way round having the need to use a magnifying glass, thank you for your help I am going to try it now. And let you know later.

Hi again @victorm1

The 360 can be a temperamental wee beastie.

It may seem odd but a few people that couldn't pair their remote fully have been able to successfully set up the remote by using new batteries even though it's a new remote.

It can also sometimes works if you hold down the 'TV' button and '0' button together until the Standby button (top right corner of the 360 remote) starts to flash.

It is very temperamental and frustrating, I have tried that too with the remote and changed batteries. You have been a great help but looks like having a dud possibly.

Once again thank you so much for your help I shall have to keep on using the TV remote for the volume.    Thanks.

A strange thing happened, I tried the keys method and it worked, got the volume bar and the volume and mute worked on testing, great I thought working now until I pressed the back button to go back to the TV, hey presto not working, very strange, is there a store button I should have pressed before using the back button?. PS I did press the yes button to acknowledge it working before returning to the TV.

No store button. As your Toshiba is made by Vestel you could try putting that in as the manufacturer but I am not sure if it will recognise the Tosh model number.

Vestel also worked just like Toshiba, it allowed me to test the volume and mute but as soon as i went back to tv stopped working, thanks so much for your input.
