360 Bug still present......

When watching a recorded program and when you also have multiple episodes to watch, about a minute before the program ends, a pop up in the top right warns you that the next episode will auto start in 12 seconds unless you cancel the option.

The bug is, that if you do NOT cancel this, the next episode plays once the 12 second timer elapses even when the current episode has not finished.

Multiple times I have had this happen to me - the pop up message gets displayed and I cancel it but I then note that the current episode has MORE than the 12 seconds shown in the pop up message??

So in other words, when the next episode starts (when you do not dismiss the message), it actually starts before the current one ends....??!

I have noticed this on V4.41 (and all versions before this) on the 360. I've just been updated to V4.42 so don't know if this is still present.

  • This bug is still present on the new V4.42 firmware.......

Anyone from VM gonna acknowledge this bug (posted over a week ago) ?

Hey there deans6571, thanks for reaching out to us.

I'm sorry to hear about the bug on the 360 box.
Are you able to show a video of the issue happening?
It would assist in getting this sent to the technical team to resolve.
      Let us know.

      Kind regards.

        Hello.

I’m not posting a video because it would take too long.

All you have to do is follow the instructions in my original post in order to experience the bug….

  • Over one year later and this bug has recently reappeared.......

    Whats going on?????

And still NOT fixed in the most recent update:

      Hi all

I am really sorry about this. I'll get in contact with some colleagues from the right team and raise this to them.

I'll let you know once I hear anything back.

Any update on this - your message was posted 2 weeks ago?

  • Just posting to confirm this issue is still present on my V360 box on software version 5.05.  In fact it never went away and is still as annoying.

What needs to be done is one or more of the following:

    • Change the default behaviour of the pop-up to 'do nothing' rather than 'autoplay' as currently
    • Make the pop-up appear at the end of the whole recording not when the box thinks the end of the programme has been reached
    • Provide an option to turn off autoplay altogether (like iPlayer)

Adding an option to turn it off like the " keep or delete " has been posted quite a few times but no one seems to be taking any notice. 🙈 🙉

  • I have also suffered from a recurrence of this bug, please provide an update

Also seeing this. Thought it was just me. Watching all recorded episodes of Mr Bates v's The Post Office (ITV) and it pops up before the episode has finished. Very annoying.

Thanks for posting on this thread, Gixerob111. I'm looking into this at the moment, please can you confirm if this is happening on all recordings or just certain channels?

If you can provide that information, I can take this to the team and ask them to look into this further.

      Kind Regards,

      Steven_L

TBH I've only had that one series link recorded so can't really say, sorry.

  • To answer Steven_L's question this isn't a channel or recording specific issue - it happens across all channels and series recordings when watching the end of a recorded episode when the next episode is also recorded and available to be watched.  I thought my other posts on this thread explained the situation - and also what needs to be done to fix it.  Looking back it seems we were promised this would be forwarded to the development team on 18-Jan-2023 - almost a year ago now.

I am experiencing this feature now with recordings of Suspect on C4. It would be great to be able to turn it off.

    thanks

  • This annoyance got me yet again earlier this evening at the end of my box recording of episode 1 of Murder Trial on BBC2 when I was unable to grab the remote within the countdown period.

An update would be appreciated - even acceptance that this is something that is not working as expected would be progress.

I'm really struggling here.  If this autoplay pop-up was displayed in the last 15 seconds of the whole recording rather than when the programme timing thinks the episode end has been reached then there would not be a problem.  If the autoplay box default option was to do nothing rather than play next episode then there would not be a problem.  If this autoplay box could be completely switched off there would not be a problem.

To me the required change doesn't seem massively complex but VM just don't seem to be listening to their customers here.

Can we have an update please.

        I get this bug constantly.

Along with another where you can start a program and the video will be at the start but if you try to spin the show on the marker is already at the end so you have to rewind the show back to where the video is just to spin it on a bit.

Silly bugs that should never have made it out of production.

      Hi Bee1000

We've received the following response from the product team:

"Recordings can have a handle/buffer added to the start and finish of each planned recording, however the logic that drives this 15-second countdown to the next episode works purely off the scheduled end time in the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).

In a live broadcast scenario this is imperfect as schedule changes occur, specifically on Public Service Broadcasters (PSBs) at the weekend with various live events, with little warning. Changes to the EPG files will not cover this dynamically.

As we move towards deep linking to PSBs apps in the Internet Protocol Television space, this issue will reduce significantly, but for now there are just the following options:

      1. Toggle the feature on and off
      2. Remove the countdown/next episode pop-up completely
      3. Move it to the end of the recording"

If you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.

      Regards,
      Daniel

  • Its truly shocking that I first reported this bug WAY back in September 2022 and yet here we are in November 2024 and this bug is STILL present in the current firmware of the 360.

    Its beyond ridiculous....???!?!!

      Agreed!

Here's s video of the video position bug.

      https://youtu.be/8kykwtQC4qY?si=m7vi1H3UosrYg-FG

Basically start a recording playing, the video position goes to the end (incorrect). Rewind the video, the video now actually reflects the position of the time / location of the position indicator.

      This shouldn't be happening.

....and here we are - 17th December'24, and the bug is still here!!

And ZERO response from VM as to whether this is even being looked into or not......

      🤷🏽‍♂️
