Hi looking into getting a mini box but there is no Coax cable in the room it's going in.
Is it only live TV that you need this for as I realistically only need access to recordings so could I view these wireless on a mini box?
Thanks in advance

Hi Willnoo,
The coax connection is only used for live TV, you might need to connect the mini box to the coax and your hub when you first receive it and make sure it initializes correctly, you should then be able to use it to watch recordings and live TV with a delay by setting the programme to record and the watch it as a recording in the other room using WiFi. You could also ask for a manned installation and get a coax cable installed in the other room it could be free as part of the installation of the mini box, if it's not free there will be a £25 fee.

My understanding is that a check of the NIT (database of live TV channels) is part of the bootup sequence, and this is partly why TV boxes won't bootup without the co-ax being present.
Go for a manned installation.

Not necessarily mandatory if you have a 2nd coax connection already and some users have received a mini box without a coax connection you just ask for a self install and said they have used the mini box as described in previous post. It would be best to have a manned installation if both boxes are connected to the coax so the engineer can check the the signals are balanced to both boxes.

To be clear I was referring to cases such as the OP's where a tech must attend for a second box installation. If a customer already has two working sockets and a manned installation is not necessary, VM would likely charge an installation fee (might be £30 but not sure of the amount).
