Record not working

Hi I am unable to record any programs on my virgin box. When I click record on a program, is says “add to watchlist”. But from there I can’t do anything else it just won’t record anything. I have tried downloading the app but there no “planned” recording session anywhere. Please help!

    Hi Roberta1099

You've posted in the Stream forum, however the VM Stream box is IP based and no recording function as the Stream boxes don't contain a  hard drive.

Can you confirm which set top box you are trying to record on please?

      Hi again Roberta1099

I'm afraid if you want a box with recording functions then you will need to switch to the 360 box because as indicated in my other post there is no hard drive with the Stream boxes.

You will be unable to switch to a 360 box though if you are on  the new XG-PON network (this is usually indicated by the customer having the hub 5X).

      Hi Roberta1099,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

We're sorry to hear you were unaware that the Stream box was unable to record. As mentioned by newapollo, you would need to switch to a TV package that includes either a V6 or a 360 box to be able to record things.

You can do this by speaking to the team on 150 / 0345 454 1111 or via Whats app on 07305327112. Replies aren't instant via this route and can take a few hours so feel free to carry on with anything you need to.

Keep us posted on how things go.

      Thanks,

  • I'm in the same boat as you. I only joined on Saturday and didn't know until the engineer was showing us how to use the box that you cannot record. I have been a loyal customer of Sky for 28 year's and have been waiting for Virgin to be available in our area , if we had known you couldn't record with this offer we would not have moved.

      Up to speed

We used to have Sky Q & went for the VM Steam box in, I like it, just had to the Watchlist, it lists all the programs, just click on the one you want to watch, you can also look back on the TV guide, watch shows from there & it's  fairly fast, you can also FFW through adverts, don't miss Q at all

All of Virgins new areas are full fibre XGS-PON technology so must use IPTV services that cannot be recorded. Recording boxes are only available on the legacy DOCSIS based copper coaxial networks. I also ought to point out that Sky are no longer actively selling SkyQ satellite boxes, as over 70% of their new business is now either Sky Glass or Sky Stream based.
