slow ethernet speeds

So guys and girls, not been around for a while.

I have a problem over the last month or so my Internet by ethernet has been informing between 80-90 when being on 350, as I was out contract I have just renew and managed to upgrade as well to 500 so here I am getting 280-380 with 52 upload, so I do not believe it is internal problem.

I have check internal cable, re-tightened connections, restarted the router  also check with single PC connected by Ethernet and still maxing out at about 380.

Not had a chance to check stats but will get these uploaded in the morning as currently typing on mobile.

Do not know if I have missed anything, also checked fault checker and no issues  but when using the online tester it comes back to speak to some one!

    Back home and after doing a lot of swapping around of cable and switches etc, I have now resovled the problem.

      Hello Legacy

      I would but do not have account, and have no need for an account as do not play games.

      Even with a direct ethernet connection even Sam Knows says the same as Speed test is coming into my router. As a side beware I am a modem only user so that why tested direct connection to hub 4, bypassing my own router.

    So your link speed on the NIC to the hub is 1Gb?

    Possibly VM network or beyond has a faulty NIC link at 100Mb when you do speed test

      Well good try but remains on a 1Gb link speed, even checked with another network card and cables multiple have been tried. 

      It is very strange.

    To further add now seems to be good, getting over 500 dl and 55 ul, so will keep an eye on this over the next week or so. With no changes.

    Well there is certainly something going on no changes and after getting near enough what I am expecting it is now back down to under 100 started approx 0956am when I was not in.

      Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums. ⭐

      We're sorry to hear you've been having an issue with your speeds lately. Taking a look at thing this end, the hub is online, and the power and signal levels, these are at optimal levels. There are no faults in the area either. 

      Some of our diagnostics aren't working as the hub is in modem mode so can you change this back, post here to let us know and then leave until we reply? That way we can run further checks to try and see where this issue is.

    More testing today and I have found that I have a failing network switch as when I power off switch and then back on, I now get 500mb all the time, I have replaced said switch so X Fingers.

    Hello

    So replaced the switch with a brand new one, and tested both direct connection to router and with my modem only mode set, and I am afraid that still only getting under 100mbs tends to range between 50-70 most of the day this is not what I paid for.

      Hi DJ_Shadow1966, 

      Thanks for coming back to us about this, I can see that Kath responded to this thread on 11/11/23 explaining that she could see no issues and asked if you could take your Hub out of Modem Mode and pop it into Router Mode so we could do further checks on our side. 

      I believe you've still got your Hub in Modem Mode at the moment, so if you could please let us know when you've switched it into Router Mode we can then help further. 

      At the moment I am seeing the same results as Kath did due to this.
