Speed is capped on ethernet cable at 100mbit

Hi, I have a similar problem as previously reported, with the Ethernet cable being capped at 100 Mbps. I have already ruled out everything other than the Hub 5, which I have.

- I have a Cat6 Ethernet cable and tested it with a laptop, resulting in the same issue.
- My PC network card is running at a full 1 Gbps speed.
- The port I use on the Hub is 2.5 Gbps.

Please advise why my PC is only receiving 100 Mbps.

  • What you haven’t done is try another Ethernet cable. 100M usually indicate one of the eight wires in the cable is disconnected or broken.

Connect your network cable to a 1Gb/s port of the Hub 5 & you should see a 1Gb/s link rate.

The Hub 5's 2.5Gb/s port only works when EEE Energy Efficient Ethernet is disabled on the connecting device,
this option tends to be present on Managed Network Switches and 1Gb/s + 2.5Gb/s NICs.

Thank you. I did try any other port and the result is unfortunately the same. Do you know what else I can do. I have read about this and someone suggested that is faulty hub.

I would also double check that the following are not set to 100Mbps

EEE Max support speedspeed and duplex

Thanks Dave I have this already setup as it should be. I'm waiting for new cable and I will test that first.

It can equally be a faulty NIC on the PC if the same problem exist on every port of the Hub 5.

Perhaps you have a USB 3 to Gigabit Ethernet adapter to try as an alternative to the internal NIC of the PC.

  • I feel so stupid, 2 years thinking it is 25m cable of course will drop the speed🙄 it was the cable, now I got 925mbps.
