Wired connection slower than WiFi

New to Virgin, got 1gb package with Hub 5. Got my PC sitting right next to router and using wired connection. I'm only getting half the speed compared to the WiFi. Thought it was because I had cat5e cable, upgraded it to cat 7 and it's made no difference. Is this normal?

What link speed does the Hub 5 and the PC report for the network cable connection ?

Share screen shots of speed tests for both the Wi-Fi and the network cable.

If it is a Windows PC, boot into "Safe Mode with Networking Support" and retest the Samknows.  Or, boot with a Linux ISO and retest.  As the Hub is getting the full 1Gb, the issue points to your PC as the bottleneck?

Which ethernet port are you using on the hub5? You should get the highest speeds if you are using the bottom 2.5Gbps port

The wired PC connection may be slowed down if you are using a VPN, also some AV programs cause bottlenecks.

The results of the samknows speedtest can also differ according to the brower used and number of tabs open.

My gig1 connection using the various browsers:-

Chrome 896 Mbps and 885 Mbps:

Brave 751 Mbps and 763 Mbps:

Edge 1133Mbps and 1089 Mbps:

Firefox 549 Mbps and 837 Mbps

It's already plugged in the 2.5gbps port 😞

Hi ccscot22,

Thanks for posting and welcome to our community 😊

Sorry to see you're getting some slow speeds, we've had a look at things from our side and can't see any issues.

Can you confirm if you're using a VPN as newapollo suggested?

Can you confirm if you're tried a pin-hole reset of the hub?

I'm not using a VPN
