i am embarresed to say this, but since i got this package i have never ever had more than 45mbps download speed the first few months of upgrading to this, and now in the last few months its never went above 11.6mbps. and im only now seeing that on the website it says minimum guarantee is 500+ mbps with this package. and i have had this package for maybe a year now, and for over £60 i expect what i am promised and i expect compensation for being total screwed over like this, since day one. i have been with virgin well over 10 years and i tell everyone they are the best, just for this to happen to me.

Samknows shows the speed in Mb/s, which is how your VM broadband is is rated.

If your download is showing MB/s as you insist, you have to multiply that by 8 to get the true speed in Mb/s.

So if your game is showing 60 MB/s it is actually 480 Mb/s.

You also have to allow that the game server may not be capable of serving your download at the speed you want, depending on its capacity and its route to you.

If this speed is measured with an ethernet connection then something is seriously wrong. If it's over WiFi then you only get a get a minimum speed of 30Mbps, with their 'pods' if needed.

To get some advice on here you'll need to get the connection data from your Hub. Go to 192.168.0.1, copy and paste here as text, the downstream, upstream and log data.

Someone will check it and be able to advise what might be wrong.

What does a wired speed test on this site show?  www.samknows.com/realspeed

im dumb and i cant find the down/up stream, i also switched my ethernet cable from my other pc to this and now its gone up, so now instead of downloading a game at 11.6mbps its gone up to around 50-60 mbps peak. still not the 500+ minimum the website guarantee's

That suggests you have a better connection than you have quoted.

If you have been using the indicated speed from a game server, they are not trustworthy. Is it indicating bytes MB/s or bits Mb/s?  If it says MB/s then you need to multiply it x8.

Also try a new ethernet cable, Cat5e or Cat6.

So the Hub is getting the full 1Gb.  If your devices are not performing, then you will need to check your end.

it always shows MB/s, i have a Cat8 and i have a 2.5 GbE port in my PC. im confused, it dont make any sense to me at all. if samknows shows those speeds, shouldn't i be downloading at those speeds? because otherwise i'm paying that insane price for 1/4(less than 10%?) of what i'm "lowest guaranteed" promised. i have a friend that downloads over 780+ MB/s with another provider (different country also). i have 100+ upload speed and he has 700+, our download speed is pritty close. hes paying roughly the same price as me. what is their excuse for these rubish speeds, when other countries in the world are getting more than us for the same price? this is a pic below is of his download speed btw, i asked him for it, to see what speeds i should be paying for and my mouth hit the floor. i guess the uk is still in the stone age compared to the rest of the world. should i just give up trying to get those speeds, virgin clearly cant give what they say?image.png
