Renewing contract for Hub 5?

Wilks

My contract is ending soon and I've seen offers online for a Hub5 1GB for £45. Is this offer also available for long term customers like myself who's contract is about to end?

I currently have a Hub3 but because of issues I've been using my own router but it's a few years old now and I really need an upgrade.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Andrew.

All the offers are generally for "new" customers only.  You can certainly try retentions at contract renewal and discuss prices, but be prepared to leave if you can't get a deal.  You will be classified as a new customer after 3 months.  If you have a partner at the same address, they can also get new customer deals btw, as the existing account will presumably be in your name.

Why do you need a new Hub if you have it in modem mode with your own router?

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

I have an old router which doesn't receive updates anymore and won't support high speeds.

Openreach are currently upgrading off my street but there's no confirmation of completion. I'm happy to stay with Virgin but the hub 5 upgrade price is double what new customers are getting. Nearly £80 a month for broadband only seems a little costly.

That's one of the biggest gripes with VM, in that new customers get the bargains.  It's just their business model.  I previously left and came back on a new customer deal (Black Friday) and got double the speed at less than half price I had been paying.
