Hi
I'm looking at getting VM installed.
What defines where the cable comes from the street to the house? Should there be a capped hole or something visible outside the property? I dont think I have seen anything. I thought i heard that they had come off BT poles in some areas, or is this rubbish?
The issue is it will be fine if on one side of the house as can run up a garden boarder straight to the house, but the other side would across drive / footpath etc
thanks

Look for the CATV covers in the street in your neighbourhood as below
to see where a VM cable might be routed to your home if VM is supplying services from underground.
VM is now supplying some homes from telephone poles. You may have seen installers in your area fitting new connector boxes to the tops of the poles. That is another more-recent option.

Many thanks for the reply. I cant see any CATV covers in the street.
Are these items on the pole VM equipment?
Cheers

Does the postcode check show that your street is served by VM?

yes - high speeds available. I'm just not home a lot and dont want anyone trying to put cables on one side of the house becuase of drive / path, as if thats the only option id stick with plusnet.
I was trying to see if i could determine where the cables / fibre come from before signing up.
cheers
